This picture was taken 72 years ago when Percy Williams Bridgman was awarded the 1946 Nobel Prize in Physics "for the invention of an apparatus to produce extremely high pressures, and for the discoveries he made therewith in the field of high pressure physics."

Bridgman was born in 1882.

Professor Malik Maaza, from Algeria, has been awarded the prestigious African Union Kwame Nkrumah Award for Scientific Excellence (AUKNASE) 2017, a major recognition at a continental level for his pioneering work in nanoscience and technology and for his contribution in science for African development. It is Africa's highest scientific Award.

Two of PINSAT graduates would be working under him soon, one has already worked under him last year at the iThemba LABS, South Africa.

Professor Stanislas Ouaro and Professor Malik Maaza, both ICTP Associates, recently achieved important professional success, being appointed to a high-level political position and having won Africa’s highest scientific recognition, respectively. Full story on our website --> http://ictp.it/cajbj

The Nanocar Race involved years of training, feats of engineering, high-profile sponsorships, competitors from around the world and a racetrack made of gold.

Also, 2 Nobel Prize awarded inventions – the scanning tunneling microscope (awarded 1986) and molecular machines (awarded 2016).

Teams were positioned several floors above their vehicles and the equipment, controlling it on computer screens. They moved their cars by jolting them with pulses using a scanning tunneling microscope that has separate tips.

Joint AvH and PAS Meeting of the AvH Fellows of P**istan on “Contributions of P**istani AvH Alumni to P**istan’s S&T” held at P**istan Academy of Sciences, Islamabad on 17th January 2017.
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) is a foundation established by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany which promotes academic cooperation between scientists and scholars from abroad and from Germany. On Jan 17, 2017 P**istan Academy of Sciences (PAS), Islamabad organized a joint AvH and PAS Meeting of the AvH Fellows of P**istan to discuss the “Contributions of P**istani AvH Alumni to P**istan’s S&T”. The event was graced by The Ambassador of F.R Germany H.E Mrs. Ina Lepel as Chief Guest. Many renowned scientists from P**istan who are serving at distinguished posts and hold the honour of AvH and DAAD Fellows were present and shared their views and experiences with the young audience.
The Ambassador AvH alumni P**istan encouraged the young scientists as well as the AvH alumni to explore the grant opportunities provided by the foundation for P**istani nationals.
