Key Speaker Profile:
Sawsan joined the Children’s Museum Jordan in early 2011 as its Director. The Museum is an NGO focused on delivering non-formal and interactive learning to children under 12 years of age and serves over 250,000 visitors annually. Her background is in development with a focus on education and she was also President of the North Africa and Middle East Science centers network (NAMES) for two terms from 2014 to 2018.

Sawsan is a strong believer in the value of science and children’s museums as well as the impact they can have in supporting the formal learning structure. She has been working on advancing their “cause” and creating more educational value through the Children’s Museum Jordan.

Fatima Bhutto is a Pakistani writer and columnist. Born in Kabul, she is the daughter of politician, Murtaza Bhutto, niece of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and granddaughter of former Prime Minister and President of Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. She was raised in Syria and Karachi, and received her bachelor's degree from Barnard College, followed by a master's degree from the SOAS University of London.

At the age of 15, Bhutto published her first book, Whispers of The Desert. Her second book 8.50 a.m. 8 October 2005 marks the moment of the 2005 Kashmir earthquake.

Bhutto's family memoir Songs of Blood and Sword was published in 2010. Other books she wrote include, The Shadow of the Crescent Moon, The Runaways, New Kings of the World: Dispatches from Bollywood, Dizi and K-Pop.

Bhutto has written for The News and The Guardian among other publications. She also mentors several South Asian Writers as the Head of Climate Projects at the South Asia Speaks Literary Fellowship.

LACAS School Network debaters had a sensational performance at the 55 Main Debating Championship, winning 1st place in the U-17 category and placing 3rd overall! In addition, Abbas Haider (Headboy, LACAS JT Boys) ranked 16th in the top 20 speakers.
This is a phenomenal achievement for our students, and we are incredibly proud of their outstanding performance. We wish them more success in their future endeavours!
