In line with the Environmental, Health and Safety Management for addressing "Dust Pollution, Assessment and Prevention" in Pakistan specifically Peshawar. The Department of environmental sciences , The University of Peshawar organized a day long , in collaboration with Qanmos College Peshawar, 20 October 2021 to build capacities in assessing the health impacts of . This Seminar aimed to brought together national health, environment, and statistics professionals together to exchange knowledge, best practices, and provide answers to questions related to air quality levels and health measurements in the region. A brief Lecture were provided by Mr. Fiaz Ur Rehman Khattak, and Dr. Shehla Nazneen and Chairman of the department Dr.Mohammad Nafees shared their knowledge on different challenges and issues regarding environment. is very helpful to the UET Peshawar- Official- students to deal with an emergency situation in their professional career. Moreover, this training is a pre-requisite for the awarding of a B.S. degree in Mining Engineering. In this regard, The Department of mining engineering has arranged First aid training for final year students. Therefore, Qanmos College Peshawar were requested to kindly depute approved first aid trainer mr. Fiaz Ur Rehman Khattak to conduct the said training for students.
Training on First Aid was conducted in the territory of UET Peshawar on 1st August 2022.
As per the regulations of SME UET Peshawar- Official and (DGMS), it is mandatory that all the Mining Students should be trained on First-Aid by approved faculty and possess certificate in First-Aid, before they are allowed to appear in the examination conducted by DGMS , which is essential for any recruitment in Mining Companies.
Welcoming the participants to the training, , of department of mining engineering, university of engineering and technology, peshawar, said, “Our department ensures that all the Mining Engineering students are provided the needed hands-on skills in Mining, by way of compulsory summer internship in mines for a minimum period of 6 months, spread over 3 years so that they become job ready, by the time they complete the course”.

A visual representation of a one-day seminar on "Occupational Health and Safety in Mines" held at the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar. The seminar was organized by the SME UET Peshawar- Official in collaboration with the Inspectorate of Mines Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Qanmos College Peshawar. The seminar's goal was to highlight issues and challenges faced by the mining industry, as well as to raise awareness about professional ethics and safety courses.
Branch Manager of the Qanmos College Peshawar, Mr. Fiaz Ur Rehman Khattak (Mining Engineer from The UET Peshawar, NEBOSH IDip in OSH (Level-6) and Certified NEBOSH, IOSH trainer) briefed on Awareness about Safety Courses in Occupational Health and Safety in Mine’s and -IGC, OSHA and IOSH-MS etc. and urged to make more efforts to keep up with academic courses he also highlighted the rights and duties of the academic in safety related courses, training and seminars.
, Secretary Mines and Minerals, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was the chief guest on the occasion. In his speech, he stated that mine owners as entrepreneurs, government, mine workers, and academia are the key stakeholders for the mines industry's long-term development. However, there is a need for implementers rather than planners, and in order to do so, academic support is required, as universities are the breeding grounds for innovative ideas. He assured mining engineering graduates of the Mines and Minerals Department's support for projects with market utility.
, Vice Chancellor of UET Peshawar, praised the efforts of the SME and the Inspectorate of Mines, KP in organizing the seminar. According to him, the primary challenge in the mining business is a shortage of standard quality minerals and stones. We are endowed with tremendous metallic and non-metallic natural minerals, yet we are unable to completely utilize them. He urged the participants to collaborate on joint projects utilizing Artificial Intelligence technologies in order to add value to the mining industry. He informed the Department of Mines and Minerals, KP, of his full support for joint research projects and the provision of equipment at the state-of-the-art laboratories at the Center for Gems and Jewelry and the Mining Engineering Department.
According to , Chairman Mining Engineering Department, as one of UET Peshawar's oldest departments, Outcome Based Education is approved by the Pakistan Engineering Council. He stated that the department has generated excellent graduates who work in government agencies and contribute to the mining industry.
According to , Chief Inspector Mines KP, occupational health and safety in mines is important for our existence since mining engineering is everything. We have included small and large-scale mining in our legislative framework, and the reporting system is likewise open to the public. He informed the students that with large to medium-sized mines in KP, there will be no shortage of mining engineers in the province.
According to , Meritorious Professor Department of Mining Engineering and Patron-in-Chief, Society of Mining Engineers, the "abc" of safety is "always be careful." He stated that mine personnel must have a thorough understanding of three factors: dust, gases, and temperature management.
