The event will also address the Israeli perspective on Europe's approach to this ongoing crisis.

We hope you stay safe in this difficult time.

We want to share with you this important magazine from our friends at the Ben Gurion University of The Negev. "The following pages will touch on some of our stories but we focus on bringing you news of the BGU community’s resilience – what people are doing here and abroad to ensure that we emerge at the end of it all stronger than ever." You can find more here: https://digitaler.cld.bz/BenGurion-and-you

We also wanted to use this opportunity to thank the entire BGU community and especially Hila Zahavi and Sharon Pardo, who helped us greatly on the 7th of October. They even made sure that the conference food wouldn't go to waste when the 11th EAIS Conference was canceled. All of the already prepared conference catering was delivered and distributed to the families evacuated from Gaza border communities following the horrors of October 7.

Sharon and Hila, thank you!

We are deeply shocked and devastated by the still unfolding situation in Israel.

We mourn with our dear colleague and mentor, Professor Ilan Troen, for the great loss of his daughter and son-in-law.

We were on the phone the entire day with her son, our grandson, Rotem, as he lay first under her body and then found a place to escape under a blanket in a laundry." Dear Colleagues and Friends,

In light of the unprecedented attack on Israel, the EAIS Board and the two local hosting research institutions at Ben Gurion University of the Negev decided to cancel the conference in Beer Sheva and Sde Boker planned for the next three days. The safety of the participants is our principal priority and an unpredictable situation doesn't allow us to secure it. We hope that this year's EAIS conference can take place online at a later date.

We know that some of you are already in Israel. So are members of the organizing team. If you need any assistance from us or have questions about the situation, your stay in Israel, or any other issues – please do contact us ([email protected]). You can send us your phone number if you want to be added to our WhatsApp group.

Please remain vigilant and stay safe. We hope this tragic event will be soon over and we will be able to come back to our academic duties. We will keep you informed.

Kind regards,

Artur Skorek
