We started the fourth day of EMOP with a Plenary Lecture given by Professor Michael Stear from La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia.

The lecture was entitled “Modern methods of data analysis in nematode infections.”

Dear Participants,

We would like to provide you with some information about the Gala Dinner taking place on Thursday.

The Gala Dinner will commence at 20:00 at Restauracja Letnia, situated within the Zoological Garden. Access to the Zoological Garden will be available from 19:00 onwards. However, please note that the Afrykarium will be closed from 18:00 onwards due to technical reasons, and it will not be accessible before the official Gala on Thursday.

You are requested to use the Staff Entrance of the Zoological Garden, which is clearly marked on the map provided. The Main Entrance of the Zoo will be closed during this time, so please make use of the designated Staff Entrance.

The third day of EMOP has begun from the Plenary Lecture of Professor Laura Rinaldi from the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production of the University of Napoli Federico II, Italy.

The lecture was entitled “Multi-actor perspectives in parasite diagnosis and epidemiology”.

A short summary of today’s Opening Ceremony followed by inspiring lectures given by our first Plenary Speakers: Professor Colin Sutherland and Professor Grzegorz Węgrzyn.

Dear Participants, we are excited to announce that the Gala dinner (optional event) on August 29, 2024, will be held at the Letnia Restaurant in Wrocław Zoological Garden.

The Wrocław Zoological Garden, known simply as the Wrocław Zoo, is the oldest zoo in Poland, having been first launched in 1865 as the Breslau Zoological Garden while the city was part of Prussia. During the World Wars it was first shut down, then reopened and finally destroyed. After World War II, it was rebuilt and ultimately opened in 1948 and now it is also the largest (in terms of the number of animals/species) zoo in the country.

The zoo covers 33 hectares (82 acres) near downtown Wrocław.

It is home to about 10,500 animals representing about 1,132 species.

In terms of the number of animal species it is the third largest zoological garden in the world.

We encourage everyone to visit Wroclaw Zoo!

To mark the partnership with the EFP, FAWPAR will award two prizes for best presentations by students / emerging scientists.

The prizes include:
-> a cash award which will match the registration fee paid by the recipients,
-> and one of these will additionally include a full waiver of the
publication fee in the FAWPAR Special Issue devoted to EMOP.

Anyone who applied for the YSA - if the subject matter of their paper falls within the FAWPAR scope (https://www.eurofedpar.eu/fawpar/) - will be considered for the FAWPAR awards as well, subject to confirming eligibility to publish their EMOP paper in the FAWPAR SI if selected.

Recipients of the awards will be selected by the FAWPAR Editor in Chief Alvin Gajadhar and the three associate editors, Ray Gamble, Lucy Robertson and Olgica Djurkovic, and will be announced at the EMOP XIV Closing ceremony.
