Many of you may already know Lisbon's famous “Praça do Comércio”, but probably few will know this hidden gem!
If you go a little further, beyond the square, you will find a small beach embraced by a stone stairway that meets the river - Cais das Colunas - named after the two pillars, partially covered by water, representing wisdom and devotion.
This was once the noble entrance into the city, through which heads of state and other prominent figures arrive, such as Queen Elizabeth II of England, in 1957.
