Peacock Vintage
My vintage fashion stall is opening this spring, starting with London based fairs, specialising in 1920s-1960s women's fashion. Vintage, not retro!
Happy new year! We're very excited at the return of Call the Midwife, not least because tonight's episode featured some original 1960s dress patterns provided by yours truly!
Sparkles, sequins, and some great details! Perfect for party season, or any time you want something special!
If you can't sparkle at Christmas, when can you? We'll be bringing some glitzy party wear to the fair tomorrow at Hampstead town hall. Come and find your perfect holiday season outfit!!
We're putting together some gorgeous winter stock for the fair at Hampstead town hall on Sunday! Cozy coats and knit wear, tweed skirts, 60s ski pants, winter stockings, and some lovely wool dresses, plus much more. And of course, we're making our items easy to find by marking UK size 16 and up with a blue cube. Come and say hello!
This is rather a rare find; a stunning satin with quilted details and a sprig of silk flowers, bearing the label, which was introduced during .
Tonight I have the very good fortune to be staying at the .england hotel in the Cotswolds, with the lovely . Absolutely stunning place, so friendly, and we are being so well looked after! Thank you !
Just a perfect autumnal dress from the late , in red and black houndstooth check. We love the flattering bodice, dropped waist and pleated skirt, and that sweet little rose detail at the hip!
A sweet little crushed silk velvet jacket, probably from the or even earlier, with a white silk lining and gorgeous details: a ruched collar and cuffs! Pieces like this can work with a vintage outfit, or just thrown over jeans as a unique addition to something modern.
The stunning shoes we posted yesterday came along with two pairs of matching , in shades of green! The light green ones are labelled "Brettle's Gleam, Made in England, artificial silk and cotton", and the darker pair say "cotton art silk and silk, Made in USA ". At silk, or artificial silk, is now known as rayon or viscose, and was developed in 1890, providing a cheaper alternative to real silk.
I do not say this lightly, but I honestly think these may be the most beautiful shoes I have ever seen. They are late or early and made of green leather, heavily veined with gold. They fasten with a thin strap, and should have a small button (no longer attached; we have one of them!), and they have a Louis heel. The white leather insole is marked "hand made throughout", and the makers stamp on the bottom of the heel is still clear, as they've hardly been worn. Just exquisite! We think they're around a modern UK size 4.5.
All set up with dozens of gorgeous bridal gowns, stylish mother of the bride outdoors, bridesmaid's dresses, and accessories, at the Pavilion in Derby, for the today!
We can’t wait to see you in The Pavillion at Derby tomorrow! We have steamed a LOT of vintage wedding dresses, gorgeous gowns suitable for stylish bridesmaids, outfits for mothers of the bride and guests alike. What’s more, we have some exquisite vintage veils, circlets, gloves, stockings, handkerchiefs and bags to tempt you. Entry is FREE, and for a sneak peek see our stories…. 💒
The self covered buttons on this stunning needed to be replaced, as several of them were damaged or missing. I couldn't match them exactly, but these (modern) ivory toned pearl style buttons match the lovely silk brocade beautifully, and look the part.
The average new wedding dress costs £1250: our extensive range of stunning options starts at under £100, and goes up to around £600. We recommend that you allow another £100-£300 for a trip to a specialist dry cleaner, and any necessary adjustments by a professional dressmaker, to ensure a perfect fit, which still means you can have your dream look for less! Come and see what we've got at
At the Pavilion in Derby on Sunday 16th!
Chillier autumn weather means I get to dress like my style icon, in wool skirts and cute knitwear. Just add cosy wool stockings and you're good to go and solve mysteries (after a cup of tea and a scone by the fire). We'll be bringing some of these beauties to next month, and to in December.
We realised we had a whole rail of gowns that were PERFECT for Disney-themed weddings, and well, we couldn’t resist!
Come and see us at at the Pavilion in Derby on October 16th for much, much more… (or DM us for more info / sizes / prices).
We have with a range of wedding dresses to suit different styles, sizes, and budgets, along with some gorgeous accessories to add a little "something old" to any outfit. And we’ve got a gorgeous array of dresses, very special occasion wear / coats for bridesmaids, mothers of the bride and ultra glam guests, too!
Some new and regular traders for you to chat to Derby Leisure and Events Venue Fitness Centre on Sunday 16th October!

It's hard to capture the gorgeousness of the olive green brocade on this late duster style evening coat; in person, it really catches the light beautifully!

Next month, we are very excited to be doing our first wedding fair, courtesy of ! We'll be at the Pavilion in Derby on October 16th, with a range of wedding dresses to suit different styles, sizes, and budgets, along with some gorgeous accessories to add a little "something old" to any outfit. And we'll have some lovely dresses for bridesmaids and mothers of the bride too!
As firm believers that vintage fashion comes in all shapes and sizes, we were delighted to find these elegantly tailored late , made by a Jewish tailor and furrier named Colman Sumberg. They've suffered one or two little nibbles and are in need of a clean (which will be reflected in the price), but they're beautifully made and very wearable. They'll both fit around a 38" waist, so approximately a modern UK size 22. Well be bringing them to fair in November (unless someone buys them first; DM us if you'd like to grab them while you can!).
It's starting to feel thoroughly autumnal, isn't it? Time for tweeds and cosy wool dresses and boots and scrunching through leaves. We ❤️❤️❤️ !
Helping someone find a vintage piece they love is always a joy, but it's extra special to help someone Say Yes To The Dress! No spoilers, but today I had the pleasure of showing off some of our gorgeous wedding dresses, for a very happy customer, who is going to look just stunning on her big day!
We had an absolute ball at the fair at yesterday: so much so that we're already planning the next one at in December: hope to see you there! In the meantime, we're living the glamorous life soaking a couple of lovely wedding dresses in the bath; it's amazing how mucky they were, and how much fresher they look now!
Just an hour left to go at the fair at . What a great day it's been so far!
It's a busy day already at the fair at ! Come and see us before we sell everything!
So excited for for fair at tomorrow; so nice to see some familiar faces and chat to other traders, and we're looking forward to showing off some of the lovely stock we've been sourcing since last time we were in London... Almost three years ago!
Isn't this just the sweetest greetings card? I think it's probably , and opens up to reveal a pair of beautifully fine embroidered handkerchiefs, in either cotton or possibly linen. Perfect to send to a friend suffering from a cold or a heartbreak!
We're getting our stock checked and steamed ready for the fair at on Sunday. We know it can be hard to find fabulous so we mark our UK size 16 and up garments with blue cubes; and we've got some lovely larger pieces!
A little bit of inspo! This fabulous pattern for a "step-in" or teddy was advertised in the Daily Mail in September 1933. Wouldn't it be just dreamy in one of the stunning we've been posting? The pattern is not for sale, but the silks are!
