We had the pleasure of being joined by throughout the Rap & Beyond residency.

Noise Diva has been accompanying and working closely with the residency artists on their performance as well the production of their original and collaborative tracks.

Noise Diva is an Amsterdam-based producer and DJ, Garage Noord resident, and co-founder at KLAB and SALWA foundation. Her musical stylings bridge together a variety of genres, from Moroccan trap to Egyptian R&B, French drill, dancehall, and UK garage, weaving together stories that transcend the dance floor, while ensuring that dancers stay hot on their toes. The ecstatic flow that she creates in her sets is always unexpected, and yet guaranteed to create intimate connections around the DJ booth.

We are looking for 8 professional womxn rappers, hip hop and trap singers from the MENA region (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco) to take part in a creative residency, followed by concerts in Lebanon from 21 to 29 May.

يسعدنا أن نكون نتعاون مع بساريا للفنون في معرض الفوتوغرافيا "احكي لي" الذي يقام بالشراكة مع معهد جوته بالإسكندرية والمعهد الثقافي الفرنسي بالإسكندرية

"احكي لي" هو معرض فوتوغرافي جماعي يحاول تسليط الضوء على الدور المحوري الذي تلعبه المرأة، والاحتفال به. يُقام المعرض يوم 8 مارس 2022، في إطار الاحتفال بيوم المرأة العالمي.

يجب أن تناقش الأعمال المقدمة مواضيع تخص المرأة، وان تحكي عنها قصة قصيرة في صورة إلى ثلاث صور، وأن تتوافر في الأعمال المقدمة عوامل سرد قوية مرتبطة بالموضوع.

اليوم الأخير للتقديم هو الثلاثاء 15 فبراير 2022.

We are delighted to announce that we are collaborating with B’sarya for Arts “Tell your story” Photography exhibition organised in partnership with Goethe-Institut in Alexandria and the Institut français d'Egypte à Alexandrie.

"Tell your story” is a collective photography exhibition that seeks to expose the vital role of women as well as observe and celebrate it. It will be held on the 8th of March 2022 in the framework of the International Women's Day.

Main element in submitted photos should be about women and should be telling a short story about “her” in one to three images as well as a very powerful narration related to the theme.

Submit your work no later than: Tuesday 15th February 2022.

تقدّم «مفردات» بالشراكة مع «نييجيه نييجيه فيلا» في كمبالا إقامة موسيقية للملحنات والملحنين (بمرافقة متعاونتين/ين على الأكثر) أو فرقة مكوّنة من ثلاثة أعضاء من العالم العربي للتركيز على مشروع معيّن أو لتأليف أعمال موسيقية جديدة أو لاستكشاف أفكار جديدة والبحث فيها.

يمكن للملحّنات والملحّنين من العالم العربي التقديم لبرنامج إقامة مدّتها عشرة أيام في «نييجيه نييجيه فيلا» في نيسان/أبريل-أيار/مايو ٢٠٢٢ (تُحدّد تواريخها بالتشاور مع الموسيقية/ي المقيمة/م).

Mophradat has partnered with Nyege Nyege Villa in Kampala to provide a residency for a composer/s (with up to two collaborators) or a band comprised of maximum three musicians from the Arab world to spend focused time working on a specific project, creating new compositions, or exploring and researching new ideas.

Contemporary composers from the Arab world can apply for a ten day residency at Nyege Nyege Villa in April-May 2022. Specific dates will be determined upon consultation with the resident(s).

"When I was a teenager, my dad wasn’t terribly interested in the music I liked. To him, it just sounded like “a lot of noise,” while he regularly referred to the music he listened to as “beautiful.”

Why do old people hate new music? Our musical tastes begin to crystallize as early as age 13 or 14 and we become increasingly resistant to new music as we get older.
