Baad had been recognized by IBM for her contributions in patents, and building various ML models for IBM Center of Excellence. After moving to Finland, she contributed to the startup initiative of Fortum’s self driving and electric vehicle logistics project named Fortum Go. Baad started her own company Oy where she is building various products for consumers to solve various daily problems.

Let us introduce you to Netlight alumni, Boel Sjöstrand. A very strong inspirer and founder of Netlight's initiative The Code Pub, a network for women in tech. Boel is nowadays CEO at Linkura - a startup, founded by scientists in biomedical engineering, working to increase wellbeing and reduce stress through data.

We are glad that Boel will join us, as our main speaker, during the next Code Pub meet-up at 20th of May. Boel will talk about how Linkura has developed training programs for mental health by combining advanced technology and AI with human coaching.

“I have always loved math and didn’t want to be stuck in one place”. A career as a Front-end Developer means endless opportunities for Zoriana Lesyk, Netlight IT consultant in Munich. The IT industry never stands stills and Zoriana enjoys that it creates new challenges and constant personal growth.

Bringing excellent value to clients is also something Zoriana likes about her role. Last year she took part in the Corona Crisis hackathon in Ukraine. Zoriana and her team came up with this amazing idea, to enable people medical assistance without endangering others. It resulted in a mobile application where doctor’s examinations, prescriptions and all medical history was restored in one place. The project hasn’t been launched yet, but Zoriana thinks it will provide a lot of cool features for patients as well as medical staff.

Being a female in tech was not very common in Ukraine when Zoriana first started, however, she is happy that more companies invest in initiatives that aim to boost the number of females in tech. Zoriana is active in The Code Pub, Netlight’s network for women in tech. For the up-coming meet-up she will lead a workshop about “How can pair & mob programming help us write better code”. We are super excited learning more about that.

Meet our IT consultant, Lovisa Carlsson. Lovisa became a part of the Netlight family two years ago. A passion for creative problem solving got her interested in the tech area at the very first. She ended up studying a Master of Science program in Interaction Technology and Design at Umeå University in Sweden.

The opportunity to work with different industries made Lovisa join Netlight. She first started in the aviation industry and is now working in the media sector. Lovisa loves to engage in project where she can use her UX/UI design skills and help people make sense of complex systems.

Lovisa is also a part of the Netlight initiative, The Code Pub, an international meet-up for women and non-binary people in the tech industry. For the next meet-up, 20th of May, she is happy to give an inspiring workshop as well as sharing her expertise and experience within the area of UX.

Erik Ringertz, Netlight’s CEO since 2003, returns to be a Partner amongst Partners in the company. Instead of a traditional change of CEO, Netlight introduces an entirely new executive structure, supporting Netlight’s self-organizing organization. The company’s group of Partners appoints annually who from the group should take the CEO role and if a change is desirable.

“This also coincides with the corona pandemic, which creates a kind of zero year in business. Then I felt that it was time to personally go into a kind of beginner phase again, at the same time as we provoke a change at Netlight, says Erik Ringertz”.

Breaking news: Netlight challenges the norm of CEO as superior title. Today, Netlight implements an entirely new executive structure and we are happy to announce our new international CEO duo, Katri Junna from Netlight Finland and Felix Sprick from Netlight Germany.

Katri started her Netlight journey 6 years ago as a Senior Management Consultant within media, mobility and B2B software products. She joined the Partner group last year and has been part of Netlight’s successful growth journey in Helsinki.

Felix has a background in Computer Science. He has 15 years of experience within Netlight and is a Partner since 9 years and has also been a member of Netlight’s board of directors. Apart from that he has had a fundamental part in growing and positioning Netlight in Germany.

Why is software testing so important? Our meetup for women in tech, The Code Pub in Berlin, together with Women Who Code invites all women interested in tech to a remote knowledge sharing evening on 3 December about automated testing.

Netlight consultant Janine Brügge will share her experiences in testing and when it makes sense to not test an application. Janine has worked with different clients as a Backend developer, Cloud Engineer and Architect with AWS experience.

After the tech talk Women Who Code will hold an automated testing workshop for websites, where you will write and run your own e2e tests with Selenium, the most popular browser automation framework. In small groups, you will take on the role of a test automation engineer for the next unicorn startup - Instacat. The groups will work together to write test cases, using a technique called “mob programming” - which is pair programming scaled up.
