If your child isn’t finding much success in school, it may be in their best interests to find programmes that can help them hone skills to help their academics. On the other hand, if your child has a gift for something, such as athletics or music, it would be remiss not to help them hone these skills!

However, the interests of your children should be the primary factor in your decision-making – after all, they'll be more driven to succeed if they enjoy the activity! 🤩

Soft skills are important not just for academic success in school, but also for future employment success in the workforce. 👩🏻‍🔬

With STEAM learning gaining popularity as a pedagogy, educators and parents are beginning to realise the incredible good that comes from it!

Each of these skills works together to provide students with one of the most important advantages of all: Preparing them for the future world they will lead. 🌏

Earth is a wonderful place, but it needs our help to thrive and be preserved for a long time! 🌏

That's why throughout the world, we commemorate Earth Day to protect the earth from further pollution and destruction.

We can make our world a happier, healthier place to live by doing simple things like clearing up rubbish and planting trees, as well as participating in educational activities that make use of recycled materials! ♻️

We love teaching our students how to be resourceful young learners and seeing all the ways they join in on protecting the earth as they learn. 💡

This is child-initiated learning at its best! 😍

From designing a stall and “building” it to discussing the food they want to sell in their stall and creating those “food” too, March was certainly full of busy activities for our kiddos!

Learning is not a passive process. The best ideas often come from the children. They are much more likely to come up with fantastic ideas of their own in a safe, welcoming, and open classroom – which is exactly what STEP aims for.

Swipe for these behind the scenes photos of the kids making yummy snacks! 👉

When students participate in activities that include diverse components of STEAM, they are encouraged to ask intelligent questions, find answers, apply what they've learned, and problem-solve creatively. 💡

STEAM projects require students to think about problems in a systematic way, applying the technical skills they've learned along the way to come up with the best solutions.

This gets them ready to be the next generation of well-rounded entrepreneurs, professionals, or individuals who can excel in different aspects of their lives. 🤓

post!

To mark the end of Term 1, the children initiated a ‘Play As You Learn’ project. 🍅🥒🥕

They were very involved in the process and it was exhilarating to see the ideas that popped out of their minds.

During the session, the children were encouraged to use their voices and interact with the cashier and sellers. They were given a grocery list and the autonomy to choose what they wanted to buy from the list. We also had the opportunity to explore the basics of commerce by exchanging money for goods!

Swipe for the pictures that took place during our ‘Play As You Learn’ session! 👉

Today’s the day for jokesters: it's officially that time of year where it's acceptable to cut loose and pull a prank on your kids! 🤪

Make the most of April Fool's Day by coming up with a list of pranks and jokes to (shh!) play on the kids in harmless fun. 🙉

Here are some silly ideas:
👀 Place a set of googly eyes on everything you see for a funny surprise!
🍫 Make some ‘brownies’ – brown e’s cut from brown paper hidden in a tray, get it?
🪲 You can never go wrong with fake bugs strategically placed somewhere!

But don’t forget to prank responsibly!

Aside from just being a ton of fun, exploration, curiosity, problem-solving, and creativity are all encouraged through sensory play. 🌈

Young kids can explore the world through touch and sense, which provides an engaging experience for learning and developing their senses.

Plus, it can be done almost anywhere with anything! When it comes to sensory play, nature can be a child’s best friend while stimulating imagination.

Kids can have the freedom to get messy, and we think that’s why our students love sensory play so much! 🎨

STEAM learning continues at STEP, where our students can flex their science, engineering, and technology skills! 🤖

Building models such as the ones pictured here don’t just take learned skills, but creativity.

At STEP, our students have a lot of fun incorporating all of the very important skills they can develop with STEAM learning! 👨🏻‍🔬👩🏻‍💻👷🏻‍♀️📐

Today we’re celebrating the importance of recycling in honour of the environment. ♻️🌳🌎

Before throwing things away, let’s stop and reconsider what we discard!

Instead, we should view our discarded items as an opportunity rather than waste and explore activities that can be enjoyed with these items.

That’s why we’re going to reuse our LEGO and recycling materials to create games for underprivileged kids, such as a maze, checkers, stationery holders, a LEGO clock, coasters, toothbrush holders, and even bookstands!

At our enrichment centres, we are big fans of reusing materials to facilitate our activities. There is no shortage of fun and creativity to be had with them! 💫

Process art projects are such an easy activity for toddlers and hold so many benefits. 🎨

Here, they took part in some circle art, which allows them to work on fine motor skills, identifying circles and colours, and exploring the environment around them!

Great job kids!❤️

Here we are growing our minds with LEGO! 🧠

Apart from being a useful tool to help our kids with their motor skills, building, and creativity, we’ve made use of LEGO to test their matching & coordination skills! 🧱
