Asam Pedas “sour spicy,” Fish is a classic Malay dish cooked in tamarind (asam) fruit juice.

Asam Pedas is an extremely popular dish in Mahan Makan Cafe. Vegetables such as tomatoes etc are added to the Asam Pedas. Fish (options such as pomfret, sting-ray, mackerel or red snapper) are also added to make a spicy and tart fish stew with alluring colour that one cannot resist.

Daun laksa (laksa leaf) is mainly used in this dish which has a coriander-like smell with a clear lemony note.

Pandan leaf is the core ingredient of kuih dadar/kuih tayap. The green exterior of kuih dadar is made of batter colored with natural pandan juice extracted from pandan leaves.

The HEART of every mee Soto dish is the soto ayam (chicken broth) made from chicken cooked with rempah (spice paste) which ingredients used to prepare the rempah include ginger, garlic, galangal, coriander, cumin, fennel, black pepper, nutmeg, curry leaves, belacan (prawn paste) and lemon grass.Chopped spring onions, fried onions, Chinese celery and coriander leaves are used generously as garnishes.

Mahan handmade bergedil (fried potato cake) is definitely a great choice added as an extra topping.
