Our very first SASCO AAC Inter-Centre Rummy-O Competition was held on August 2, 2024, inviting seniors from SASCO@Compassvale, SASCO@WestCoast, and SASCO@Khatib. Sixteen seniors emerged as winners at their respective AAC's semi-finals, who then gathered and competed in a friendly competition in the finals. It was an exciting match with everyone on their toes. Regardless of the outcome, all the seniors deserved a round of applause for displaying good sportsmanship.
Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the six senior volunteers from AWWA Active Ageing Centre, whose enthusiasm, energy, and support as referees brought cheer to all the players! We also want to thank our sponsors: Mr. Low Kok Sing, who sponsored the NTUC vouchers received by all sixteen players, and Anita Chang, who sponsored the Atomy products as consolation prizes. A simple buffet lunch was served after the competition, and everyone enjoyed a scrumptious meal together. Seeing how much everyone enjoyed themselves, we look forward to organizing more such events for our seniors again.
We are incredibly grateful to Minister Desmond Lee for visiting SASCO@WestCoast last Saturday. His support and interest in understanding our services and the seniors we serve are deeply appreciated. Thank you, Minister Desmond Lee, for your continued support and dedication to enhancing the well-being of our seniors! 😊

We are constantly trying to improve our services and staff proficiencies to support our clients better. Since November 2023, we’ve enlisted Meaningful Care Matters (from Australia, helmed by founder Peter Bewert) to help implement an exciting care model for dementia clients, termed the ‘Butterfly Approach’. With this approach, people with dementia journey through an experience that makes them ‘feel free to be me’ – akin to the metamorphosis from cocoon to butterfly.
Peter was in Singapore with our dedicated staff for a 2-days facilitation workshop on the ‘Butterfly Approach’. These workshops will continue until November 2024 where our team of staff will hone their skills and thus, bring more colour, laughter and shared experiences to our clients everyday.

Heartiest congratulations to all the wonderful seniors who successfully completed the Table Tennis For Seniors (TT4S) Training Programme in November and December 2023!
Alongside our dedicated table tennis coach, Kevin Pang, we held an award ceremony where we were honoured to have Advisor Carrie Tan 陈澮敏 grace the event and present the certificates. Led by Coach Kevin Pang, the TT4S Training Programme takes place weekly at the table tennis corner located at block 813 void deck space, established by Nee Soon South Zone C RN with the invaluable support of Nee Soon South Community Club.
Seniors joining the TT4S Training Programme are typically new to table tennis and eager to learn the basics of this engaging sport. With their remarkable achievements, we firmly believe that age is merely a number, and the pursuit of learning knows no bounds. Our TT4S Training Programme stands as a testament to this belief, showcasing that personal growth and skill development are endeavours that can be embraced at any stage of life.
💙 Let’s honour those whose compassion knows no bounds and consistently provide the utmost care for others. Here are some invaluable tips to support caregivers on their noble journey of selflessness and love.

In the spirit of SG Cares Giving Week, volunteers from Xiu Xin Tang showed their care by taking our seniors on an excursion to the National Orchid Garden on 3 December. Participants not only got to appreciate the varieties of exotic orchids on display, they also enjoyed light refreshments prepared by the volunteers and were thereafter treated to a mouthwatering lunch.
Christmas came early for seniors from our Hong San sheltered home facility as they were showered with gifts, donations and a sumptuous chicken rice bento lunch by staff from Nutek Pte Ltd on 2 Dec. The volunteers led them in sit-down exercises, engaged them in a game of bingo and entertained them with a concert. This was crowned by a rousing singalong featuring festive favourites.
