En días pasados el Embajador Villegas ha tenido el placer de atender a dos ciudadanas panameñas que han viajado a Singapur por estudios. La joven Lindsey Lee, que estará estudiando con una beca de SENACYT su maestría en Singapur, y Areadna Torres, funcionaria de la Cancillería, que asistió a un curso corto recientemente.

El Embajador Villegas se reunió esta semana con el Señor Lim Lay Yew, fundador de la empresa ESCO, dedicada a la producción de equipo para laboratorios y farmacéuticas, con quién se estarán explorando opciones de negocios en Panamá.

Eng. David Miranda had the honor of attending The Nautical Institute Annual Conference 2024! as the Chief of the Segumar Office. At this groundbreaking event, was delved into: 🌿 Sustainability - Discussed the integration of renewable energy and innovative technologies in maritime. 🚨 Emergency Preparedness - Explored strategies for handling new challenges with alternative fuels and hazardous cargoes. ⚓ Seafarer Wellbeing - Addressed crucial issues affecting seafarers and their rights. It was an inspiring and insightful experience, engaging with industry leaders and peers to shape a greener, safer, and more sustainable maritime future.

🌎 SALA Dialogues 2024: Latin America - A Strategic Pivot in the Global Pursuit of Net Zero Carbon Solutions and Food Security 🌍

Additionally, as “the world's breadbasket”, Latin America excels in agricultural productivity. Investment in infrastructure and technology, along with better regulations and fewer trade barriers, is needed to enhance the food industry and provide affordable, nutritious food.

El Embajador Villegas tuvo en días pasados una reunión con el Señor Merle Hinrich de la Hinrich Foundation. En esta visita conversaron sobre las futuras oportunidades de negocio y de sus actuales inversiones en proyectos de energía solar y bienes raíces desarrollados en Panamá.

Eng. David Miranda, Head of Segumar Singapore, participated in the Pleasure Craft Safety Forum, held on 20 Aug as part of the Singapore Safety@Sea Week. This forum discussed pertinent areas aimed at improving and raising safety amongst the pleasure craft community.

Mr. David Miranda, Head of the Segumar Singapore Office, participated on Monday in the first day of Singapore Safety@Sea Week 2024, which was inaugurated by Mr. Teo Eng Dih, CEO of Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. This first day included sessions on seafarer safety, ammonia bunkering, and green navigation.

The 3rd Annual Round Table Discussion with Foreign Flag States convened key maritime representatives from around the globe, including those from Cook Islands, Palau, Indonesia, Marshall Islands, St. Kitts and Nevis, Liberia, Singapore, Greece, Tuvalu, Mongolia, Hong Kong, the Isle of Man, and Panama, represented by Eng. David Miranda, Chief of the Regional Office.

The event provided a platform for critical discussions on vessel inspections and maritime safety, with a focus on topics such as inspection data, areas of concern for various flags, maritime accidents, and other safety-related issues.
