Guided by Coach Chew Yi Heng, they're ready to conquer the swim, bike, and run and make us proud! 🇸🇬

We’re back with another athlete feature, and this week it’s all about Samir Varma!

Samir started triathlons at 11 and really got serious in 2019 with the High Performance Programme. Since then, there’s been no stopping him! He’s already rocked the 2023 SEA Games and recently snagged 3rd place in a qualifier Aquathlon, on top of picking up silver at the National Championships and the USAT Collegiate Conference.

What’s next? Samir’s getting ready for the 2024 National Championship and the USA Collegiate Triathlon Series, plus he’s got his eye on the 2025 SEA Games. Big things ahead! 🇸🇬

Continuing our showcase of Singapore’s talented triathletes, this week we're highlighting the remarkable journey of Herlene Natasha Yu Zhihui!

Starting as a national swimmer, Herlene switched to triathlon at 15, embracing cycling and running alongside her swimming expertise. She's not just racing; she's also studying Physiotherapy in Perth, balancing her sports and academics brilliantly.

Her trophy case includes titles from the Singapore National Championships in 2019, 2022, and 2023, and strong showings at the Southeast Asian Games and Asian Games.

Looking ahead, Herlene is preparing for big challenges in 2024, including the U23 World Championships in Spain and the Asia Triathlon Cup in Kota Kinabalu. Join us in supporting Herlene as she strides toward more triumphs!

This week, we proudly present Tey Yi Jun, one of Singapore’s promising triathletes, as part of our athlete feature series!

Starting his athletic journey as a competitive swimmer at 12, Yi Jun discovered his passion for running during National Service. In 2023, he entered his first triathlon race at the Metasprint Triathlon, finishing 4th and launching his competitive triathlon career.

Notable achievements include a silver medal at the 2023 National Championships, gold at the 2024 Metasprint Series, and bronze at the 2024 Asia Triathlon Cup Putrajaya 🔥

Triathlon Singapore is sending a Team AG SGP to Townsville Australia to compete in the World Triathlon Multisports Age Group World Championships 2024

Eligibility:
- Singaporean / PR (Residing in Singapore for more than 3 years)
- Top 20 and within 15% of winners time, in a sanctioned race in sprint/standard duathlon, Aquathlon, LD Triathlon.

Note:
- qualified athletes need to order an approved Team SGP World Triathlon Tri Suit by end of June
- Travel, accommodation and race fees will be self funded, and travel will be arranged as a Team.

Sport Singapore’s Spex programme through their High Performance Sports (HPS) system, provides holistic and enhanced support for high performing athletes to nurture them to fulfil their fullest potential, allowing them to chase their dreams with passion, stirring dreams of future glory, whilst developing role models for our Youths.

Louisa Middleditch, Herlene Natasha Leah Yu, Chua were amongst 103 athletes from 26 sports, in this programme for 2024.

Children’s Wishing Well Inter-School Aquathlon Championships was held on 23 March 2024.
