Happy International women's day!
Today, women are breaking barriers and achieving success in many different fields, while also managing to balance the responsibilities of being a housewife.
As a medical gloves supplier, we see firsthand how women are making strides in industries that were once dominated by men.
At the same time, we also understand that being a housewife is a full-time job in itself, and we applaud the women who are able to balance these responsibilities with their professional pursuits. Whether it's raising children, managing a household, or caring for loved ones, women are demonstrating their incredible multitasking skills every day.
To all amazing women out there: we see you, we hear you, we value you!
Keep dreaming big and breaking barriers.
In our new series called „What’s that?”, GMT aims to look behind certain concepts and provide a summary of the most important details. This first episode shall discuss sustainability, its basic idea and what it means in our business.
Sustainability is the basic idea to live and produce in a way that is sustainable with our natural resources on the long run. This shall reflect be reflected in environmental, economic and social standards. Operationally, for us as medical device producers, it means things like using recycled materials, regrowing resources, and renewable energy. Three simple examples:
• Recycled carton material for all GMT boxes
• Focus on regrowing sources such as natural rubber latex
• Support and preference of productions with renewable energy forms (e.g. biomass)

Winter is coming. Frosty weather and cold hands come together. Either we talk about working outside, hobbies or just outdoor activities, dry and cold hands can spoil the fun in the winter season. If you are a medical expert and you are using our gloves, these tips can also spare you from irritations that constant washing, disinfecting and glove wearing can cause, especially in the winter months.
As medical gloves experts, we love hands 😊. It is imperative to protect your hands in all environments. There are some tips to follow to give them some tender care during winter months:
• Use hand cream daily. Choose one with highly emollient ingredients like Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Squalene and Beeswax. These ingredients not only seal in moisture, but they can also create a protective barrier on the surface. Use a deep moisturizing cream even at night before you go to bed. This helps to nourish your skin.
• Wear gloves every time you go outside. As frosty air and cold can cause dry skin, the easiest way to protect your skin is to wear gloves! Another advise here is to avoid cotton, as it absorbs a person’s sweat which leads to a wet gloves that lose insulating ability. Gloves are essential for some businesses where workforce is exposed to cold conditions, too. There are special protective equipments for the winter-hardened outside professionals. There are gloves that include protective lining designed to help withstand wind and water.
• Get the right fit. Yeap, size matters! Also, it provides more comfort. If glove is too large, significant air space is created inside the glove. Remember, it is the body heat from your hands that keeps a glove warm and not vice versa.
• Use rubber gloves for your house chores. When hands are exposed to hot water or chemicals, they strip your skin from its natural oils which leads to dryness.
• Mild soaps help. Choose the right products as more aggressive soaps can dry your skin. Prefer a liquid one, as they include moisturizing agent.
• Always use sunscreen! What applies for your face also applies for your hands. Sunscreen is essential not only during summer, but all year long. The medical community suggest applying sunscreen no matter the weather or time of year, as the tops of the hands are especially susceptible to long-term UV damage.
• Exfoliate-peeling! Our skin regenerates every month, but sometimes dry skin does not come off easily.
• Avoid very hot water when shower, as this damages the skin.

Today is the World AIDS Day!
It shall remind us of the importance to fight this disease, even when other topics are trending.
HIV is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system. If left untreated, it can lead to AIDS, which reduces the body’s capabilities to defend itself and might end fatal.
Once someone gets HIV, they have it for life and currently there is no effective cure approved yet, although plenty of new, some still unapproved, treatments prolong the life of infected and reduce transmissibility of the virus. Over the last few years, COVID is having a serious impact on our communities worldwide and threatens progress and attention on HIV research and other areas of health. Even though COVID stole the spotlight, we must always remember the importance of research and treatment of HIV, because like COVID, this disease can also hit anyone.
People who get effective treatment can live long healthy lives and protect their partners.
May one day we have a world free from AIDS.
