Another award for Tullibardine 228 & 500! Time for a dram over the weekend to celebrate this delightful whisky!

We’re very pleased to announce that our Signature Range has been awarded some shiny new medals from the International Spirits Challenge 🏅

Both our 500 Sherry and our 228 Burgundy won Gold awards and our 18YO and Sovereign won Silver!

Time to celebrate with a glass of something delicious!

A recognition for a whisky which had been influenced by Spanish Sherry.

The 500 in the name comes from the size in litres of our Oloroso sherry butts the whisky is finished in, making it a deliciously spicy, warming and rich dram.

If you enjoy a red wine cask finish, our 228 expression from our Signature range is the perfect choice.

Finished in 228 litre barriques from the Bourgogne region in France, it takes a lovely auburn colour from the casks. The nose gives fruity notes of red cherries and vanilla with a hint of Turkish Delight, while on the palate there’s red summer fruits, chocolate and a sweet, spicy note to finish.

It pairs perfectly with dark chocolate too!

Let's kick off our festive countdown this year with a relatively new member of the VMW family, Finlaggan Red Wine Matured Islay Single Malt.

Matured in Rioja wine casks, this superb Islay malt is jam packed full of red berried fruits, plums, strawberries and an undercurrent of smokey bacon. Then there's the sea salt and earthy peat!

A perfect Christmas dram.

Added to the Finlaggan range in 2015, Eilean Mor (those of you that know about Islay's geography will be familiar with that name). This expression has been bottled at a slightly higher strength than other Finlaggan release (not including the Cask Strength, of course). The whisky comes from an undisclosed distillery on Islay - it's a closely guarded secret as to which one...

Looking for the perfect cocktail to impress the family this Christmas? We’ve got just the thing! A simple upgrade to the classic whisky cocktail with festive garnishes to add that Christmassy aroma.

Winter Old Fashioned

You’ll need:
• 50ml Tullibardine 225 Sauternes Cask Finish
• 2 tsps Brown sugar
• 2 dashes Angostura bitters
• Cinnamon stick
• Sprig of rosemary
• Orange twist

Method: In a rocks glass add the sugar a dash of sparkling water and the bitters and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Add the ice to the top and stir in the whisky. Garnish with the cinnamon, rosemary and an orange twist.

Tasted this tasty whisky neat initially, with few drops of water afterwhich (3 drops to 15ml)

Colour: Clear medium salmon

Nose: Tropical fruit, seemingly lychee, spice of cloves and nutmeg

Palate: Mild peatiness, medicinal, toffee, baked fruits, tar/ to***co

Final Note: Few drops of water gives that clear indication of taste balance swinging from peat to sweetness.

Tasted this tasty whisky neat initially, with few drops of water afterwhich (3 drops to 15ml)

Colour: Clear deep gold

Nose: Sweet honeysuckle, dried fruits of fig, red plums and vanilla spice

Palate: Mid body, peat earthiness and smoke, dried prunes

Finish: Last for 5-7 secs

Final Notes: Not as peaty as thought, few drops of water gives a more rounded balance to the finishing, of sweet to peat. Mushroom taste after finish? How did that comes about?

Tasted this tasty whisky neat initially, followed by few drops of water (3 drops to the final 15ml).

Colour: Clear medium gold

Nose: Crisp, grassy, briny/ salty, peat earthiness and tint of citrus (grapefruit)

Palate: Mid body, with a light-mid peat intensity with earthy, char wood, smoke, medicinal and vanilla sweet spiciness

Finish: Flavour lasted for a good 5-10 secs

Final note: Close to a young lagavulin/ Caol ila, few drops of water opens up the nose aroma and taste flavours.

Finlaggan Single Malt Whisky draws her name from Loch Finlaggan, located in northeast of Isle of Islay, where it is the administrative center to the Lord of Isles between 13th to 15th century.

Here lies 2 islands, the bigger known as Eilean Mor which houses Finlaggan castle, the residence to Clan Mcdonald and the smaller island, Eileen na Comhairle, housing the Council of Isle.

Finlaggan Eilean Mor is a single malt whisky with sweet peat smoke and medicinal notes, with a touch of sea salt.

Finlaggan Red Wine Cask Finished single malt whisky offers a delicious sweet peat smoke
and red berried fruits.

Finlaggan Port Wood Finished single malt whisky offers sweet peat smoke, smoky bacon and summer fruits.

The history of Tullibardine goes back to 1488, when she was brewing beer and was selling to King James VI for his coronation.

Tullibardine laid silence for a period of time and today, she is one of the family owned, independent distillery, who distill, matured and bottle on site.

Tullibardine 225 Sauternes Cask Finish, first matured in first-fill ex-bourbon cask before finishing in 225 liters Sauternes Cask.

Tullibardine 228 Burgundy Cask Finish, spent time finishing in 228 litres barrels which previously held Pinot Noir from Chateau De Chassagne-Montrachet.

Tullibardine 500 Sherry Cask Finish, first matured in first-fill ex-bourbon cask before finishing in 500 litres Sherry Butts.
