Loving Heart Multi-Service Centre
Loving Heart Multi-Service Centre (LHMSC) started in 2000 and is a Social Service Agency committed to
We adopt a people-centric approach to connect residents, volunteers, community and service providers to co-create impactful solution.
Our volunteers had a fantastic time at
Volunteer Wellness Event, conducted by volunteers for volunteers! 🌿✨
Led by our dear volunteer leader, Nasrin (.quest ), everyone enjoyed activities such as clay making to other fun activities. It was all about relaxation and stress relief. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it a memorable day! See you at our next volunteer wellness session!
At the recent Edusave Award event in Yuhua, 300 students and their parents gathered, providing a perfect opportunity to promote mindfulness and mental well-being.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong recently emphasised the importance of prioritising mental health. In line with this, Loving Heart introduced our "Sound Mind Soft Heart" (SMSH) toolkits, turning the event into an interactive experience for families.
The Loving Heart Community Health Team's SMSH initiative aims to build a supportive community focused on mental wellness. Activities included an emotions poll notice board with fun stickers for expressing feelings and a popular pinwheel activity where families enjoyed the therapeutic effects of essential oils and deep breathing.
By combining fun and education, the SMSH initiative effectively highlighted the importance of mental well-being, positively impacting the Yuhua community.
Prof Ang Hak Seng’s paper on The Future of Volunteerism set the tone for a workshop on Volunteer Management organised by the Singapore University for Social Sciences (SUSS) on 31/05/24.
He described four shifts that will impact how we view volunteering: Transactional to relational, Balance to integration, Physical to virtual, and organisation-centric to system-centric. Written more than 2 years ago, this paper was a crystal ball into the future then, and a reality today.
The Loving Heart team comprising Prof Teng Su Ching, President of the Board, Loh Hui Han, Executive Head and Ng Yue Yi, Assistant Manager of the VC shared interesting insights from the lived experience of being the first SG Care Volunteer Centre to be set up in November 2018. One key insight was that Loving Heart had to undergo an organisational change that reflected the four shifts. Loving Heart is now better prepared for the future.
Both Hui Han and Yue Yi shared how reframing volunteering opened new opportunities to make volunteering more meaningful for our volunteers. Another important takeaway is the importance of taking a relational view of volunteering. A trusting relationship is the bedrock for motivation. At Loving Heart, the duty of care is not only for our beneficiaries but also for our volunteers.
Join us in honouring and celebrating teachers!
Ahead of Teachers' Day our volunteers and seniors are giving their time and talent to create crochet coasters.
All for a good cause.
In gifting to your teachers, you also gift to the community. We thank you ahead for your purchase and for sharing this pre-order sale.
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” – Aesop
Community Health Heart Multi-Service Centre participated in Good Neighbour Day, invited by Jurong Health Campus, on Singapore Kindness Week on 17/5/24.
Our booth sold crochet items to promote Social and Mental Health awareness. All proceeds go towards mental well-being programmes for residents at Yuhua.
Over many weeks, senior volunteers came forward to give their talent and time. They created coasters, bags, pouches, flowers, keychains, shawls, tablecloths and many more. Each unique piece is a product of their imagination, flexing their cognition to be creative. These moments gave them peace and calm yet they are pumped up to give back to the community.
We used yarns donated by friends and strangers in the community. Many more yarns were dropped off at our booth. Many were inspired by our purpose.
Passers-by stopped to support and purchase these beautiful unique pieces made by novice crocheters, all for a good cause.
Loving Heart is gratified that our first Yarn For Love project was well-received.
Loving Heart Multi-Service Centre proudly hosts the Singapore Scouts Association (SSA) for its annual Job Week 2024 launch on 21/05/24. We are honoured to welcome Minister Dr Maliki Osman, Minister of PMO, Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs to witness the signing of the Job Week Card by President of Loving Heart, Prof Teng Su Ching and Mr Philip Ling, Vice President of the Scout Association.
This year SSA took one step further. SSA tied up with IMDA in its Digital Skills for Life Movement where young scouts help seniors to improve digital literacy. This greatly helps our Active Ageing Centres (AACs) promote digital literacy among their seniors and foster good intergenerational bonds. This collaboration gives the Scouts another platform to serve the community.
Whether they were cleaning windows or explaining scams to the elderly, the young scouts showed that they were indeed worthy of the uniform they wore.
We would like to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri! Great joy to you and all in the community. May Hari Raya bring you cheer throughout the wonderful year!
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Bitsight for their generous donation-in-kind and their invaluable support! Their outreach efforts have brought joy to 20 seniors, making a significant difference in their lives. We sincerely thank them for their dedication and commitment to spending quality time with our seniors and brightening their days. From the depths of our hearts, we express our gratitude to the Bitsight team for their care towards the Jurong East community!
For those interested in making a positive impact on the community through volunteering or corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, we warmly welcome you to partner us. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].
Loving Heart wishes everyone a prosperous Lunar New Year! Best wishes and happiness throughout 2024!
By giving their time and effort, our volunteers make a big impact in the community around us. ❤🏡
This year, we have come together with the Ministry of Social and Family Development () to celebrate and appreciate all volunteers in Singapore. Their contributions go a long way in building a more caring and inclusive home for all.

The Loving Heart Team were out for a day of team bonding over fun and food on 12 Oct 2023.
The day kicked off with a morning of exciting escape room activities at E.S.C. Centre where our team worked together to solve puzzles and learn about interesting scientific knowledge through the 3 thematic escape rooms: Museum of Humankind, Shangri-La, and Dr.X. Lunch was a delicious meal at Swensen's at IMM where we were joined by our Board President, Prof. Teng Su Ching.
As we continue to work together and strive for excellence, it's essential that we nurture the bonds within our team. Strong connections among team members can lead to better collaboration, increased productivity, and a more enjoyable work environment. We hope to create a supportive, fun atmosphere where everyone feels valued and motivated so we can better serve our community.
Many thanks to the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) for their support through the Community Care Day Fund that enabled us to organise this day of cohesion building and appreciation for our team of colleagues!
Loving Heart's Volunteer Centre partnered with the Yuhua Active Ageing Committee (AACom) to organize the inaugural Stakeholder Engagement gathering on 23 Sep 2023. The purpose was to bring together the community and its stakeholders to co-create a plan for sustainable community well-being.
Minister Grace Fu, MP for Yuhua, joined 75 participants from various community organisations, healthcare institutions, and government agencies. The community members were immersed in deep discussions about the needs of the various segments of the community. Yuhua strives to be a healthy community where well-being is attainable by all. To achieve this, we need the collaboration of stakeholders and the community to address complex social issues.
Loving Heart hosted an appreciation night on 24th Feb 2023. It commemorated the accomplishment and unwavering support from volunteers, partners and the community. Here is a small highlight of what went down, a night of cheers, applause and connections.
We hope to continue our best this year and work with everyone to make the community a better place.

Merry Christmas and thank you for all the support you have given us.
Community building has always been a focal part of our journey. Each of these events are touchpoints for not only service users, but also staff, volunteers and community members. Creating new collaborations, friendship and memories, that's the core essence of community building. It isn't just checkmarks that we had to hold, but its a event we poured effort into and we are glad to see so many smiles and new friendships.
As we wrap up this year, we hope to hold bigger and happier events in the following year and we hope to see more smiles.

Volunteers are the life line of any organization and community. Without them : their time, effort and kindness, building a tightknit and supportive community wouldn't be possible.
We are here to shine light on these unsung heroes and thank them for all their efforts. There are many others and each week we would like to continue to showcase their hard work.

Our seniors gather together to have breakfast so that they can be meaningfully engaged and feel less lonely. If you would like to help our seniors so that they can be 'full' of happiness, do donate , any amount goes a long way ! Don't wait and start brightening the mornings of our seniors today!
On 22 October, a wedding lunch for 80 guests at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, became a meaningful lunch for 80 elderly and accompanying volunteers and staff. It was very special for the elderly, many of whom said that there was no opportunity for them to enjoy such an exclusive banquet. It was hosted and sponsored by the generous groom Mr Lim Jing Hong.
We would like to thank Mr Lim Jing Hong and his fiancé for their generosity and kindness. He felt honoured to be given the opportunity to host the elderly guests, hardworking volunteers and staff. Some of the elderly even donated some red packets to Loving Heart to bless the couple.
We wish Mr Lim and his fiancé a blessed and happy married life.

Loving Heart is a relatively small SSA entrusted to look after the vulnerable in Yuhua community. Its role has expanded over the years and extends help to the whole community to help build social resilience. In our Workplan 2022 cm team building on 24-25 August, we reaffirmed our commitment to serve the Yuhua community and to pioneer initiatives that benefit the residents. We scutinised our challenges and brainstormed to find resolutions. We also discussed the scope of our work for the next 2 years. Special thanks to Minister Grace Fu for listening to our plans and giving us guidance and support, as always.
Our soundmindsoftheart Community Champion volunteers got their hands dirty as they worked with NParks trainers during a therapeutic horticulture training workshop last Tuesday. 🍀
They learnt how to engage service-users through sensory activities such as preparing potting mixtures and planting marigold flowers and ladies' fingers. Our volunteers even got to bring home their little pots of plants!🪴🙂
If you are interested to curate therapeutic programmes like these, or are simply an advocate of mental wellness, do sign up with us as a Sound Mind Soft Heart Community Champion. We are looking for social media and wellness specialists. Check out more details, and sign up using the link below.🥰

Digital Clinic is back, and this time we welcomed volunteers to kickstart the sessions. After more than a year of postponement, our seniors came armed with a plethora of questions for the volunteers – from how to shop online, to booking taxis, and using health applications. 📱😊
It was heart-warming to see everyone deep in conversation and hear the chorus of laughter echoing from the activity room. It got so loud that we even had to separate the groups. 🤣
A big Thank You to volunteers for empowering our seniors and doing good in the community. We can’t wait to have you back this June for Digital Clinic!❤️🙌

Our seniors are always up for new learning experiences and were delighted with the opportunity to visit Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall. 📖
A huge Thank You to National Heritage Board and Wan Qing Yuan - Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall 晚晴园-孙中山南洋纪念馆 for hosting us last Wednesday! Our seniors had a wonderful time exploring the gallery and learning about the important figures and events that shaped our history. Laughter could also be heard from the Little Paradise room as our seniors worked on piecing puzzles together during break time.
Thank you so much for making their day! We look forward to future collaborations like these. 😆❤
