Despite the heavy rain today, our AMS Seniors had a wonderful outing, accompanied by our dedicated volunteers. A total of 240 AMS Seniors attended this special event, enjoying an exciting Singapore Duck Tour. Even in the rain, the seniors had a fantastic time exploring the city's iconic landmarks from both land and water.
After the Duck Tour, the seniors were treated to a delightful lunch, which they thoroughly enjoyed. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr Toh Soon Huat, JP BBM(L) PVPA and Mr Winston Chu, for their generous support in making this event possible. Our deepest gratitude also goes to our volunteers, whose efforts and dedication made this outing a truly memorable experience for our seniors. 🥰

Have you heard of Chair Yoga?
Despite any limitations our elderly may have, chair yoga can help them feel stronger, along with providing many other benefits. At Cheng Hong Senior Station @ 933 Jurong, our trainer teaches the elderly how to increase flexibility. The ability to bend, twist, stretch, and move freely is crucial, not only for yoga but for overall well-being.
Chair yoga may also reduce the fear of falling and help elderly individuals who are not use to exercise to begin improving their strength and balance.

CK Da Ge donated $100,000 to Cheng Hong during his book launch and art exhibition, he also donated the same amount a few years back when he was the Organising Chairman for Cheng Hong Gala Dinner.
I knew him from Teochew Huay Kuan around 2014, we were not close but knew each other existence but he appeared humble, polite and a Chinese scholarly gentleman.
We grew much closer when he and the Late Mr Teo Chong Hock asked me to serve in Cheng Hong and he guided me as a junior, supporting me and encouraging me to take up a leadership role at Cheng Hong. Many times, he also stepped in to give his views and gave support to me when needed when we were trying to evolve our services.
Of course, he also guided me in giving back to the causes that he found meaningful, St John was one, and Nam Hwa was another. He was also the reason why I went to Tzu-Chi Foundation SG 慈济基金会 Hua Lien and had a Buddhist retreat in 2018.
He promised to stay in Cheng Hong to support us, staying true to our mission to help the poor with their funeral rites and providing care and friendship to our vulnerable elderly.
Waiting to collect his photo art piece and I will hang it in my room to remind me and my son to be like him one day.
Congratulations to CK Da Ge again on this meaningful and successful event!

In Singapore, about one-third of older adults aged 60 and above have fallen more than once. Statistics from HealthHub. 🙄
Understanding that falls can be a significant concern for seniors, we have invited Health Promotion Board to CHWSS Senior Station @ 933 Jurong to teach our elderly the techniques to minimise the risk of serious injuries in case of a fall.
This programme, called "Rolling Good Times" and supported by the Health Promotion Board, includes assessments and obstacle course and group exercises to build muscle strength as well as improve balance and flexibility. It also involves teaching basic rolling techniques to minimise the risk of injuries and fractures in case of a fall.
In the bustling atmosphere at our 2 senior Stations, our dedicated volunteers have embarked on yet another meaningful day. ☺️
This process begins by gathering detailed information from the elderly on their preferred items using a form provided for them to make selections bi-monthly. Once the information is collected, volunteers and staff assemble the grocery packages. The selected 8 items range from staple foods to essential cleaning products. This initiative is to support the elderly in our community with carefully structured process that guarantees each individual receives a grocery package tailored specifically to their needs and preferences.
感谢义工们的辛苦奉献 Thank you to all the volunteers who have devoted their time and energy to packing and delivering groceries and meals to our elderly across the island.
