Ten mothers residing in rental flats with babies and very young children visited our WeLL Centre to select baby clothes, bedding, pampers and children toys.

[Meet the Hero: Marvel Comics’ Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski]

Last Friday (13 September 2024), our WeLL children were absolutely thrilled to meet *Marvel Comics’ Editor-in-Chief, C.B. Cebulski!* This dream come true wasn’t just a meet-and-greet; it was an unforgettable moment of empowerment and inspiration.

Mr. Cebulski patiently engaged each child making them feel so special. His passion for storytelling and artistry sparked new possibilities in their minds, reminding them that their imaginations know no bounds.

We’re deeply grateful for his time, wisdom, and energy, traveling from New York to nurture our young creators to become superheroes of their own.

The impact of his visit will be lasting, and we’re confident our kids will continue to draw inspiration from his words and creativity. As the saying goes, “The greatest oak was once a little seed who held its ground.”

It’s that time of the year again, as we welcome over 30 passionate volunteer tutors to support WeLL Centre’s weekly 1-to-1 tuition program - an initiative dedicated to enriching the academic and socio-emotional growth of under-resourced children from the Henderson-Dawson neighbourhood. ❤️

During the training, our volunteers gained valuable insights into learner-centric approaches and various engagement techniques to enhance their effectiveness. We hope this experience has equipped them with the skills needed to support and guide the children on their educational journey. 📚

A heartfelt thank you to Pauline and Nicholas, two experienced educators, for their unwavering dedication in sharing their expertise with those who are eager to serve. We are also deeply grateful to all the volunteers from , .minds, and individual contributors for their commitment to making a positive impact. 🤝

Together, we look forward to closing off this academic year with opportunities to uplift young lives! 🥰

WeLL kids FESTIVAL

Our WeLL kids and their families enjoyed a fun-filled outing to the QIXI Festival at Keong Saik Road on Saturday, 3 Aug.

The kids were thrilled by the wide array of heritage activities that they could participate in, including a meet-and-greet with the festival’s charming mascot, Qiqi the Magpie. On top of that, they played with engaging games and participated in crafts, and were mesmerised by a lion dance performance! It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to bond with their parents and friends, fostering a sense of community spirit.

The highlight of their day? The chance to meet and interact with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and their favourite Tanjong Pagar GRC Grassroots Advisers!

🌟 Last month, during the June school holidays, Summit Power International hosted our kids at for a Masterchef Cookout event! 🍕🍝🎂

Thanks to our sponsor, Summit Power International, our kids had a blast learning how to make pizza from scratch, cookingpasta, and decorating cakes. Working in teams, they kneaded dough, crafted sauces, and dressed up their cakes, fostering teamwork, collaboration, and creativity. 👫👬

Festive cheers & year-end celebration for 70 children from our Henderson Heights & Bukit Merah View rental flats!

Free flow of ice cream, pizza, fun games, sparkling beads making, Photo Booth and an amazing magic show followed by story-telling by our Special Guest, Ms Joan Pereira.

The highlight was when the voice of Ho! Ho! Ho! boomed into the hall! Santa & Ms Joan Pereira then gave away the presents sponsored by well wishes & families from EtonHouse Community Fund - ECF & Etonhouse Pre-school Newton to every child and baby.

12 children went home with refurbished bicycles donated by ECHELON CONDO MCST & ALEXANDRA NC.

We would also like to thank several anonymous donors who contributed cash to make this magic day possible for these children!

With 2023 coming to a close, let’s take a look at how some of our kids from the Henderson community kicked off the school holidays 🤩

Earlier this month, 30 children enjoyed a day of fun and games at SuperPark Singapore!

From trampolines and rock walls to tube slides and pedal cars — our little adventure-seekers jumped into a world of thrilling and energising activities, filling the air with their boisterous laughter and excitement 🤗

We would like to thank our partner, Summit Power International Limited for their time and generous sponsorship of this outing, creating an unforgettable experience for us all ❤️

We look forward to more collaborations with such like-minded partners who believe in making a difference in the lives of our children, one adventure at a time. 🚀

We wrapped up our 1-to-1 tuition programme for 2023 with a farewell session last Saturday.

The children had their hands on perler beads keychain making and brought home instant photos with their volunteers for keepsake. They were presented with an Adidas Cap, Popular bookstore or Golden Village movie vouchers, using the points they earned for their good attendance and behaviour this year. We also filled our tummies with savoury pizzas, snacks and soft drinks (oops, we were too hungry to take photos).

What better way to end off the school holidays than with some last bit of fun in the sun? 😉

Last Sunday, 16 students from our 1-1 tuition programme enjoyed an exciting morning of laser tag with mentors and volunteers from NUS Rotaract!

The scorching hot sun couldn’t stop our kids from sprinting across zones, sneaking up on each other and protecting their teammates to win the battle - demonstrating teamwork and communication in all its glory 🤩

We would like to thank the students from Project CUP of Rotaract Club of NUS and Red Dynasty Paintball Park Singapore for creating a memorable experience and leaving our students feeling refreshed and energised for a new semester of school!

Just before the June school holiday starts, our students were treated to birthday celebrations 🎉. Many went home with presents like Monopoly, Twister, story books and stationeries. Good Attendance Heroes were also recognised with gifts.

After presentation of birthday presents & a short motivation talk, children break off for sumptuous dinner with cakes 🎂, spaghetti 🥘, nuggets, curry puff, éclairs, hot dog buns and fruits.

Truly a day of celebration & good start for June school break.

A morning of learning and fun at Teddy Bear Hospital!

With their “soft toy patients” in hand, the children learnt about the different organs and bones in the body, personal hygiene, and what constitutes a healthy diet.

They also got the chance to familiarise themselves with common medical tools such as stethoscopes, and learnt about how to manage minor cuts and asthma attacks.

A big thank you to the volunteers from NUS/NTU medical school who brought the session to WeLL Centre!

🎂 We've had an amazing 3 months of cake blessings at Henderson from Jan to Mar!

Thank you to everyone who supported us and joined in on the fun. We were able to bless 16 kids with delicious cakes, and it's been an honor to spread some joy and sweetness in our community.

On Saturday, 30 families from rental flats visited our quarterly Mall@WeLL Centre.
Mums came w babies & teens (10 ~16 yrs old), measuring sizes & making selections of pants & dresses. Little children had wonderful time playing together while selecting variety of toys.

A rainy Saturday morning! Still didn’t deter over 50 of our community volunteers & members of Henderson CC’s Youth Network from ensuring that monthly food rations packs and cleaning items were delivered to 150 beneficiaries and their families of staying at Bukit Merah View rental flats.

Lunar Jade Rabbit Year’s first 3H (Hot, Healthy, Happy) meal for frail & single elderly at Henderson & Bt Merah rental flats.

Our regular volunteer chefs (teenagers, working adults & retirees) spent Sunday morning preparing sumptuous CNY menus; consisting of fried Bee Hoon, chai poh (preserved radish) omelette, stir fried French beans, Ngoh Hiang & fish cake. Paired with sweet potato🍠, snow fungus, red dates, longan & gojiberry dessert soup.

Top off with banana🍌, mandarin oranges🍊🍊 (cos its CNY!), cookies & festive gold coins!

May the year of the Bunny bring lots of cheer and warmth to the elderly recipients of 3H project the whole year round! May the camaraderie & bond of the volunteers and team supporting this project continue to blossom & grow stronger ! 👏👍😋🥰💗
