In times when unbelief, hardship & struggles goes against our faith, who do we turn to?

Let us trust in our Promise Keeper, our Lord, who yearns to restore and turn all things for His Good.

May then our faith persevere despite all things, for we have a God who loves and fights for us.

The same God who was faithful through the generations, will continue to be faithful through our seasons ❤️‍🔥

Even in our discouragements and confusions, let us align our emotions to the Truth; to our Promise Keeper; that even when we don’t see it and feel it, we fix our eyes to the One who keeps His Word.

‘Tis the season to spread joy and love, and what better way to do it than by showering our neighbors with festive cheer? 🎄

This Christmas, we're excited to share the joy of the season with our community through the Hope reusable tote bag and a warm invitation to our Christmas celebrations. It's the perfect way to bring some holiday cheer to our circle of friends, family, and neighborhood.

Together, let's make this Christmas one to remember!

Photos from Hope Singapore's post 06/12/2023

by Ps Claudia • Last week, Pastor Jeff reminded us that as we celebrate Christmas, we should remember the empty seats among us - the vacant seats that represent our friends’ spiritual emptiness and longing that only Jesus can fill.

Just as Jesus came to fill the emptiness in our lives, let’s make a conscious effort to fill the empty chairs switch compassion and acceptance.

Let’s extend His love to those who may feel alone and distant, and those who are searching for meaning. Let’s invite hearts to experience Jesus’ love within the church community.

If you wish, you could submit the names of friends and loved ones to hopesingapore.com/prayerstories for our church intercessors to pray for their salvation ❤️

“A bar stool, an office chair, a classroom chair, a home sofa... Do you know anyone who sits on any of these chairs, who needs to come to a chair at the Lord’s feast? Even the one that you think does not deserve it, the one you are sure will reject you, or the one that will mock you if you dare even mention “church”?

That was my story with my friend Wei Qiang. I believed he only agreed to come to church just to laugh at me the next day. In my heart, I gave up on him.

But that very day, God reached out to him and changed his eternity. And that taught me, even when we give up on people, God never does.” - Senior Pastor Jeff,

This Christmas, are we willing to take a step of faith, and bring someone to God’s house?

by Ps Timothy • Over the years, I’ve seen many, many people in the church, literally thousands, respond to different circumstances in their lives.

But situations are merely an instrument that God uses to reveal what’s in our hearts. If our life was a song, the circumstances provide the lyrics that make the song unique. But we get to determine the theme of the song.

Psalm 103:1 says, “Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His Holy Name.”

So, whatever circumstances you may find yourself in today, choose to praise and choose to trust. Choose to praise God for what He has already done, and trust Him for what He has not yet done.

| "I have been Christian for awhile but became spiritually stagnant overtime. I allowed myself to grow comfortable and stuck to a Sunday routine of attending service, serving and returning home. Despite being aware of my lack of growth in Christ, I chose not to do anything about it and remained in my comfort zone.

A colleague invited me to Hope and I joined his Lifegroup, where I decided to start taking my faith seriously again. The Lifegroup had open discussions and I saw it as an opportunity to step out from my comfort zone and contribute by sharing.

Initially, it was difficult for me as I valued comfort and familiarity. However, I realised that I would stop depending on God if I remained overly comfortable. This realisation made me look for a church and I wanted to follow where God was leading me, get rooted and seek spiritual growth. As well, I knew moving to a new place would push me to take ownership of my own growth. Sensing God’s guidance through my colleague, I eventually decided to commit to Hope and join Belong class so that I can serve here!

I’m very grateful to my colleague-cum-LGL Jedidiah for bringing me to Hope and investing in my life. I truly thank God for meeting you at a time when I needed a true friend to walk through my struggles with me. Praise God!" - Daniel, Axis Adults, Hope Singapore at The Axis

There is always room at God’s table for more. Is there room in our hearts for them all?

“My hair still not dry”, “Sorry, I just got married” — no matter the rejections that arise, let us continue to have an unyielding, embracing heart to keep going and make room for all. 💞

God first said "yes" to us when He chose to die on the Cross. Even in our rejection towards Him, He never lost sight of us.

Let's remember that even when we lose faith in others, God never loses faith in us. ✨ Salvation is a gift for all, and there are still empty seats at God's table🪑

He is knocking at the door of our hearts ❤️ – will you open it for Him and say "yes"?

As Children of the Promise, our true spiritual identity is not found in earthly deeds but in Christ alone! Children of the Promise are meant to be free, instead of living under the dominion of the law.

Let us not rely on our own effort to come to God but through The One who loves and delights in us. Let us cherish the freedom that Christ has won for us 🥰

In the words of Senior Pastor Jeff Chong, “There are few people I know who lived a life with such love for Jesus. And even fewer who have given up so much to follow His call. I was privileged to serve alongside Joseph and witness his infectious passion first-hand.”

Though deeply saddened by the news, indeed the greatest tribute we can give him is to pick up the mantle of the Great Commission to the ends of the Earth.

| "I used to drive my daughter to Hope for service. One day while I was waiting for her, a connector chatted with me. He invited me to service and Life Group and I agreed. I saw everyone in the LG serving one another, and the leaders are righteous and faithful in their conduct and teaching. I wanted to contribute too, so I opened my house for LG, prepared food, and encouraged those who look down or tired. Now, I'm leading NEC’s Connect Corner team with Deon, where we find good food for everyone to enjoy before service.

Through serving, God has grown my patience. I'm an anxious person and want to get things done fast, which can lead to hurtful words and actions. But now, even when service is starting in 1 minute, God gives me the peace to act in love because I can trust Him to work things out.

When my pre-believing friends ask why I'm so busy in church, I share what I do and how God has changed me to serve with joy and patience. This has made them interested to find out more about God!

Although I am no longer young, God can still use me powerfully as long as I am willing to offer my service to His church. Serving God is so satisfying. Instead of expecting something in return, I can serve with joy because I know I'm serving God and not man. He has already given so much to me!" - June, North East Adult, Hope Singapore at North East

by Ps Jasmine • CK (my husband) and I have been connecting and loving our neighbours for the past few years. One outstanding lesson that God has taught me through CK’s life was no matter how occupied or busy he might be, he is always willing to stop for someone who is looking for him.

There were many occasions that different neighbours would text him, knock at our door or call him for help and he always avails himself. One recent incident was when one of our neighbours from another block came at night and knocked on our door, CK opened the door and found out that she was anxious and needed help on her phone app. He stopped what he was doing and helped her to resolve her phone issue and assured and calmed her down.

I am challenged by not only CK’s life example but Jesus’ example as well. We should make people our top priority, our highest value, our biggest deal. Jesus wants us to be ushers, not bouncers—people who help others draw near to Jesus, not keep them away.

| "I used to be in toxic friendships, struggled to love others, and relied on anger to get my way. In 2019, my schoolmate invited me to Hope. I kept coming because the Life Group was so intentional and genuine in getting to know me. In the next few months, God revealed the hurts I was carrying and healed them all. He gave me a community that isn’t afraid to be vulnerable, that chooses to love, and is eager to do life together. I became more unafraid to love and be loved.

I initially struggled to get baptised because Christianity seemed like a taboo in my home. I was afraid that my parents would object to my faith. But as I prayed, God reminded me of Rhoda from the book of Acts, who remained faithful to God despite being mocked by others. I sensed that God was telling me to be like Rhoda; despite the scorn I may face while following Him, I can still have faith in Him. My sister also started joining Hope and our parents got to know more about the church. Backed up with prayers and encouragement from my LG, I told my parents about getting baptised. To my relief, they supported my decision!

I’ve learned that going through tough times with God and His people is infinitely better than doing it on my own. God has also reignited my heart to be His light in my school so that the lost and broken can see His love. I’m learning to surrender my doubts, fears and independence to God, and look forward to experience the comfort and joy of being in His presence!" - Shannon, Ablaze, ABLAZE

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Derek Redmond tore his hamstring in the 400 metres semi-final but continued the race limping. From the stands, his father ran to his son, locked arms with him, and assisted him to hobble to the finishing line.

God does the same. He did not just push through the crowds and the security to come to us. He left the heavens and broke into humanity, so that He can journey through life with you.

You don’t have to do it alone.

by Ps Daniel • When we live in a world that teaches us to stand up and defend our rights, it is so easy for us to gravitate towards being right and insisting on our rights.

In a recent incident, I had to decide whether to be right or do right. Being right is to focus on my own rights. Doing right is to have right relationships with God and others.

Swipe to see how the Holy Spirit spoke to me and how we can make the better choice.
