Happy World Environment Day 2024!
Collective action has never been more crucial as we face the mounting challenges of climate change, deforestation, pollution, and biodiversity loss.
The 2023 IPCC report highlights the urgency: we must reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 43% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050 to keep global warming below 1.5ยฐC.
Despite this, global emissions continue to rise, bringing more extreme storms, floods, wildfires, and heatwaves. The World Meteorological Organization reports a surge in floods affecting half the planet and increased drought events impacting one-third.
At , we're committed to promoting collaboration between and to tackle these environmental challenges. Our side event highlighted that a People Centred Approach (PCA) is the way to go to overcome the difficulties - ASEF enjoins its to integrate mitigation strategies into , which serves as , as a necessary step to minimise the AMR threat to global public health and socio-economic development.
