Rosemary is a fragrant evergreen herb native to the Mediterranean.

In a 2015 study, researchers compared rosemary essential oil to minoxidil, also known as Rogaine, in treating androgenic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness) in human subjects. The results revealed that rosemary essential oil was equally effective as minoxidil.

Now, I’ve launched a branch of Ooosh!™ here in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah! I wanted to be able to share a solution I’ve experienced with the people of Sabah. My heart is full whenever I get to hear customers say, “Wow, thank you for Ooosh!™, you saved my hair.” This brings me so much fulfillment.

I’ve got a word of encouragement to those who are experiencing hair loss. There’s hope. There’s a solution – a solution that is not harmful and has no side effects. And it is available to you. And it’s okay if you don’t have hair on your head – self-acceptance matters. But I guess, if you can do something about it, why not? And whenever you battle with self-consciousness, here’s one of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever gotten: Nobody’s really looking at you. There’s no need to be overly self-conscious. And when you let this truth sink in, you’ll start having a better time. And when you’re having a better time, you become more confident. I’ve had the privilege of knowing some friends who’ve taught me this lesson – they’re carefree, not overly self-conscious, and so unapologetically themselves. Each encounter with them leaves me feeling inspired to be a bit more like them.

My name is Abel Teh, and I believe that we’re created to be loved and to love others.

My biggest job is being a father, but besides that, I offer fertilizing solutions for plantations and, interestingly, for the scalp too (laughs). (Note: Abel Teh is the Director of Ooosh!™ Malaysia.)

I have a deep passion for growing people. I find the most joy in cultivating the potential, development, and empowerment of lives, fostering their growth as a person.

I began losing my hair at a young age due to genetic factors. Honestly, it made me feel more self-conscious. I didn’t really wear a cap, but I’ve definitely thought of what I can do to cover up my hair loss. I also stopped looking forward to going to the barber, because I used to be able to point at magazines or pictures and say, “I want this hairstyle,” or “I want the David Beckham hairstyle,” but I couldn’t anymore because I could only have very limited hairstyles – the ones that were short and made my hair loss less obvious. Whenever I went swimming, it made me worried about whether I’ll lose more hair because of the harsh chlorine. It was also a little depressing as I worried about the rate of loss and dreaded the day I’d go completely bald like my dad. I was young, and at the prime of my life, but my hair was thinning. The worst part was that I’m about to get married! It troubled me to think of how my wedding photos would look – for the rest of my life! I think if I was older, the hair loss wouldn’t have bothered me so much. But I was only in my early 30s, and it felt like I had so much ahead of me.

During my period of hair loss, I was also working in church and often found myself on stage, leading songs.
