Most of us have been attending church week after week not knowing how the church came about but it took almost seven years from conception to planning before OLPS Church was built in 1961. The idea to build a church beyond the Katong area was first given serious consideration in 1954. It was then felt that the Holy Family Church could not accommodate the growing number of worshippers living in Kat
In moments of uncertainty, let the Lord be your unwavering source of strength, dispelling the shadows of fear that threaten to engulf your spirit. Trust that Jesus walks beside you, guiding your steps with gentle confidence as you face the challenges ahead. Embrace His love, and remember that with faith, you can rise above any trial. Stand firm, for He is by your side.
The Catholic Church celebrates today the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary on its traditional fixed date of September 8, nine months after the December 8 celebration of her Immaculate Conception as the child of Saints Joachim and Anne. https://bit.ly/3XvLP9V
We are just days away from welcoming Pope Francis to be with us in Singapore. Our Catholics and those who love and admire the Pope are getting to be more and more excited. No world leader receives such enthusiastic welcome wherever he goes; even to non-Catholic countries. This is because Pope Francis is highly respected and regarded as a man of God who promotes inclusivity and religious harmony. He champions the marginalized, the poor, the migrants and those suffering from wars. He shows the world that Catholicism is truly a universal religion because we embrace everyone and respect all without exception regardless of race, language, culture, or religion. Hence, we can appreciate why the Pope is much loved by both Catholics and even non-Catholics. He is truly the face of the compassionate and loving Christ to all.
This is why we must truly thank God for making it possible for the Holy Father to visit us in spite of his age and health. It is truly a great privilege for us to have him visit us, considering the last visit of the Pope was almost 38 years ago. For many it would be a once-in-a lifetime experience – being among the tens of thousands greeting him and attending the various events he is presiding at during his apostolic visit to our archdiocese and country. It will be a great experience of being one Church, one people of God as we gather together at the Eucharistic celebration with the laity and clergy and Catholics from all over the world.
So, let us not leave ourselves out of this celebration. Let us rejoice together. And even if you did not manage to get a ticket for the Papal Mass, you can always join in the celebration brought to you live on youtube and the many other media channels carrying the event and be connected to the 50,000 people present at the National Stadium. For the 5000 volunteers helping on the ground and the many who are praying for the good health of our Holy Father and a fruitful journey, the visit has begun. Let us pray that this visit will renew our joy in being part of the Catholic family, bring us all closer together and most of all, help us to encounter Christ through His vicar on earth, Pope Francis, the symbol of Christian unity and hope for all the nations. May we become messengers of the Good News of hope and unity for others.

As we recognise His generosity, we are called to share our blessings with others, reflecting the love of Jesus in our actions. Let us open our hearts to the wonders He bestows upon us and become instruments of His grace in the world. Embrace each gift and let it guide you closer to Him.
