Shorts at the Office? Go for It 26/06/2024

So shorts are OK?

Many younger workers agree with them. Older workers may push back on new fashions not because of any practical reason, but because they feel threatened — changing office fashions are a very visible signal that a new generation is gaining ground.

Back in 1971, Harvard Business Review surveyed readers on how’d they’d respond to a “capable young manager in a financial services company” who suddenly sports “long sideburns” and “bell-bottom trousers.” Fully half said this hippie attire warranted a managerial sit-down, and another third said if his clothes irritated people he should “change his ways or begin hunting for another job.” That leaves fewer than 1 in 5 who said his groovy threads were purely his own business.

Shorts at the Office? Go for It As workplaces get more informal, some men are opting to show a little leg — and why not?

Non-Resident Tax and Withholding in Singapore..
Just in case you need some advisory..

Income is taxable when it is 'sourced' from Singapore, whether or not the individual is resident in Singapore.

Income 'sourced' outside Singapore is only taxable if it is received in Singapore by a resident individual through a partnership in Singapore.

Resident individuals are entitled to certain personal reliefs and deductions, and are subject to graduated tax rates ranging from 0% to 24%.

Non-resident individuals are not entitled to any personal reliefs and deductions, and are subject to tax at a flat rate of 24%.

However, employment income of non-residents can be taxed at the higher of a flat rate of 15% or the graduated resident rates with personal reliefs. This does not apply to 'directors'.

*The withholding tax rate of 24% applies for income due and payable on or after 1 Jan 2023. If the income is due and payable between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2022, the withholding tax rate on net income will be 22%.

The non-resident professional will not be subject to withholding tax on income attributable to services rendered wholly outside Singapore, even though his/her income may be paid by a company in Singapore.

Commentary: As more people seek remote work, it's time to make the search for such roles easier 03/03/2024

Our 2023 Remote Workforce Report found that 44 per cent of businesses globally are now seeing a substantial surge in full-time employees located overseas.

That's a paradigm change. If you can deliver what's required here, you can deliver anywhere!
