The Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) His Excellency Retired Brigadier Dr. Julius Maada Bio has informed the National Chairman and Secretary General of the Party that he has appointed Dr. David Moinina Sengeh* as Chairman of the SLPP Constitutional Review Committee.

It can be recalled that on the 15th December, 2023, the SLPP National Executive Council (NEC) which is the second highest decision-making body of the party unanimously moved a motion to review the 2020 amended SLPP National Constitution.

The appointment of Dr. Sengeh as Chairman of this important committee shows the SLPP is ready to adopt radically inclusive reforms that will position the SLPP as a progressive social democratic party.

It’s reported that Al Itihad, the Libyan football club, has officially terminated its contract with Musa Noah Kamara, also known as Tombo.

This move has not come as a surprise to many, as Tombo isn’t considered a key player for the team.

It is not yet clear why Al Itihad has decided to release Tombo, but the player is now free to sign with any other club.

Port Authority Football Club, has already shown interest in signing Tombo, and, likely, he will soon be playing for them.

I can see that my recent article on the BBC website is proving unnecessarily controversial. As you know I usually do not respond to such but I’m doing it now because there seems to be a genuine misunderstanding:

There’s a fundamental difference between to be “narrowly re-elected” and to “narrowly defeat” your opponent.

If the threshold to be elected is “55%”, President Bio gaining 56% of the ballot was a narrow reelection, even though the result gave a big gap between him and his main challenger at more than 10 percentage points.

So you cannot say “President Maada Bio narrowly defeated Samura Kamara in June 2023”. But you can say “President Bio got narrowly re-elected in June 2023”.

I hope that helps the progovernment people who’ve been on my neck.

It is possible that EBK will not be jailed in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 like the other coup d'etat members, but he will be jail out of Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 but a correct destination is yet to be shown .

According to serious findings there are substantial evidence against him concerning the failed coup d'etat, including coup members calling his name.

He is a former state man so he will not be treated harshly like others. ECOWAS has also requested for him but this is still hanging in the air as of now.

Information Minister Chernor Bah earlier this morning in an interview with radio democracy stated that Former President Koroma appearance yesterday at the Magistrate Court number 2 was a preliminary hearing by the court. The State will now display its evidence on the four count charges against EBK in the High Court on the 17th January 2024.

He added that the court will speedily decide on the matter.

Ismail Bah, the brother of LAJ, has spoken out against the actions of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in the recent coup attempt.

Bah specifically addressed the treatment of former President Ernest Bai Koroma, currently under house arrest facing treason charges.

In a statement, Bah expressed his concern over the perceived preferential treatment of Koroma by ECOWAS, advocating for equal treatment under the law for all accused individuals.

He highlighted the decision to potentially relocate Koroma to Nigeria while leaving others to face trial as an act of corruption within the legal system.

He returns home with existing restrictions he's been under for weeks. His case was adjourned to 17 January. He faces four counts bordering on treason and misprision of treason. His lawyer, Joseph Kamara says they're
"trumped up charges"

“Alusine Kamara, who went into the Pademba Road Correctional Center as an able-bodied man, came out yesterday paralyzed and sitting in a wheelchair after spending eight years in prison.

He was convicted of conspiracy contrary to law and was sentenced to seventeen years imprisonment, according to a report by Mohamed Konneh, who was there yesterday.

Alusine has been struggling with his health in what used to be an overcrowded prison with poor medical care. He got less attention yesterday from our politicians and even the live media broadcast.

Alusine is a citizen too who needs the attention of our political class and government to get proper medical support.
