EUBAM Libya's new Head of Mission assumes office

Tripoli, Libya – January 2, 2024 – The European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM Libya) today welcomes Mr. Jan Vyčítal as its new Head of Mission. Mr. Vyčítal, a seasoned Czech diplomat with over 20 years of experience, will lead the mission in supporting Libyan authorities in the fields of border management, combating cross-border crime, and countering terrorism.

Mr. Vyčítal has a wealth of expertise, were previously served as Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Tunisia, with accreditation for Libya, and as Czech Ambassador to Iraq and Libya. His deep understanding of the region and extensive experience in diplomacy will be invaluable.

“I am honored to take on this important role,” said Mr. Vyčítal. “I look forward to working closely with the Libyan authorities, counterparts, and my colleagues at EUBAM Libya, Together, we will dedicate ourselves to more effective border control and security and paving the way for a better future for Libya.”

EUBAM Libya was launched in May 2013. The mission contributes to enhancing the capacity of the relevant Libyan authorities and agencies in the management of Libya’s borders; fighting cross-border crime, including human trafficking and migrant smuggling; and countering terrorism. In carrying out its tasks, EUBAM Libya provides technical advice, and capacity-building activities at the operational and technical levels, including projects and specialized training. Furthermore, the mission provides strategic advice where requested by the Libyan authorities.

رئيس بعثة إيوبام الجديد في ليبيا يتولى منصبه

طرابلس، ليبيا – 2 يناير 2024 – ترحب بعثة الاتحاد الأوروبي للمساعدة الحدودية في ليبيا إيوبام ليبيا اليوم بالسيد يان فيشيتال كرئيس جديد للبعثة. وسيقود السيد فيشيتال، وهو دبلوماسي تشيكي متمرس يتمتع بخبرة تزيد عن 20 عامًا، البعثة في دعم السلطات الليبية في مجالات إدارة الحدود ومكافحة الجريمة عبر الحدود ومكافحة الإرهاب.

يتمتع السيد فيشيتال بخبرة واسعة، حيث عمل سابقًا سفيرًا لجمهورية التشيك في تونس، معتمدًا في ليبيا، وسفيرًا لجمهورية التشيك في العراق وليبيا. إن فهمه العميق للمنطقة وخبرته الواسعة في الدبلوماسية سيكونان ذات قيمة كبيرة.

ومثلت هذه المقابلة فرصة للسيد الوزير للتنويه بعلاقات الصداقة والتعاون القائمة بين البلدين والتأكيد على أهمية مزيد تطويرها.
ومن جهته، عبّر السفير التشيكي عن امتنانه للدعم لذي لقيه من السلطات التونسية طيلة فترة تعيينه بتونس.

M. Nabil Ammar, Ministre des Affaires Etrangères, de la Migration et des Tunisiens à l’Etranger, a reçu le 29décembre 2023, au siège du Ministère, M. Jan Vyčítal, Ambassadeur de la République Tchèque en Tunisie, qui lui a rendu une visite d’adieu à l’occasion de la fin de sa mission en Tunisie.
Cette rencontre a été l’occasion pour Monsieur le Ministre de se féliciter des relations d’amitié et de coopération traditionnelles entre les deux pays et souligner l’importance de les consolider davantage.
De son côté, l’Ambassadeur a exprimé sa haute appréciation pour le soutien que les autorités tunisiennes lui ont apporté tout au long de sa mission en Tunisie.

Mr. Nabil Ammar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, received on December 29, 2023, at the Ministry’s headquarters, Mr. Jan Vyčítal, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Tunisia, who paid him a farewell visit on the occasion of the end of his mission in Tunisia.

The meeting was an opportunity for the Minister to highlight the long-standing friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries and to stress the importance of further strengthening them.
The Ambassador expressed his high appreciation for the support that was extended to him by the Tunisian authorities throughout his mission in Tunisia.
