The Brigaldara Estate is a family-run winery established in 1929. The winery is located on the outskirts of the town of San Floriano, northern Verona, in the heart of the Valpolicella region. It is the original and oldest wine production area of the region, at the entrance of the Marano valley. Brigaldara Winery was built on a long wine tradition, but the owenrs keep an open mind towards the future and their future wine production.

Brigaldara was one of the first wineries in Valpolicella to adopt a new techique in the aging process for both Amarone and Recioto. A technique based on the double use of wood, where the wines are first placed in small barrels, and then complete the aging process in large 25hl slavonian oak barrels. Small barrels promote oxygenation and color fixation, while large barrels complete the wine maturation process, adding roundness, structure and helping the development of its natural aroma.

Amarone Case Vecie borrows its name from the homonymous vineyard located in Grezzana - Valpantena. An extraordinary plot of land planted with vines where altitude and exposition enable the grapes to undergo a slow and constant ripening, even during the hardest years. The late harvesting period enables them to put the grapes to dry in a colder period of the year, undergoing a slower and longer drying process. Amarone Case Vecie is a wine that is designed to enhance the natural characteristics of a high altitude climate: a true Amarone "Vigne Alte" - a high-hill Amarone.

One of the highest-elevation winery in the Chianti area, Castello di Volpaia owns 46 hectares (114 acres) of vineyards, which are situated at 450 to 600 meters (1,300 to 2,130 feet) on the southern hillsides leading up to the village. Volpaia is committed to organic farming practices in all of its estate vineyards. Just as it has been for the last 900 years, nearly the entire village is intimately involved in the production of wine and olive oil. Volpaia is not only a beautiful village for tourists to admire, but is also a hub of activity where the residents are linked directly or indirectly with the winery. Most of the employees of the winery live within the village’s walls, sheltered in houses that the Stianti Mascheroni family has restored for this very purpose. Volpaia is one of the few rural villages whose population has been growing in the last two decades. Residents welcome an average of 50 guests on any given day through Volpaia’s villa and apartment accommodations.
"If you have a platter of fatty porchetta and are looking for a worthy Tuscan wine for that party, look no further. Packaged in a black label, the Volpaia 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva Castello di Volpaia (made with organic fruit) does a great job of showing purity and freshness in what was a challenging vintage for sure. This Riserva reveals delineated tones of cherry and dark berry with crushed limestone, blue flowers and some of the wild herbs and bramble that I often recognize in wines from this corner of Tuscany. I happily recommend it to all Sangiovese enthusiasts”.

It is an autochthonous vine, especially Campano, with an ancient and complex history. It is difficult to hypothesise a precise origin, but it can be included among those valuable vines imported into Campania from the Greek colonists coming from Thessaly, perhaps from the city of Aminaios. For the shape of its clusters, which often seem double, there are those who believe (especially the Colucci) that Greco is similar to the vines "Aminae Gemelle", brought to Campania by the Greek colonists about 2000 years ago and also cultivated by the Romans. There are quotations from Cato, Varrone, Virgilio, Colummella and Pliny the Elder. The truth is that from Virgil to our days there is a great confusion in the classification and reconstruction of the history of the Greek for the fact that under the Greek name, in fact, we find many vine variety that differ from one another only to the places of provenance presenting, among them, also marked differences. We can therefore speak perhaps of a family grape variety. There are no true synonyms of the Greek, except the Greco Bianco or Greco di Gerace, which identifies a Calabrian vine variety that has different genetic characteristics from the other Greco. Sometimes in the course of history, "Greco" wines of different origins have been defined, as well as foreign ones, to promote different vines, as happened during the Republic of Venice or in other parts of Italy. So today there are no true synonyms of Greco but only the territorial origin. Among the best known we have the Greco of Naples, of Torre, of Vesuvio, of Somma in Naples, Grieco, of Tufo in Avellino, of the Sannio.

Straw colour. There is a depth to the tangy citric fruit rarely found which is wrapped round notes of melon, peach and a zingy minerality that brings the whole wine together.
Suggested with legume soups, semi-mature cheeses, grilled fish, white meats, sushi & sashimi, fried Asian dishes.

The Marchesi di Barolo estate encompasses approximately 430 acres of vineyards in the Langhe, some of the finest in Piedmont, including the prestigious Cannubi cru. The cellars are in the village of Barolo, overlooking the Renaissance castle of the Marchesi Falletti di Barolo. Barolo as we know it today was first made in the early 19th century by the Marchese Carlo Tancredi Falletti di Barolo and his wife, Giulia. The wine from their estate soon became known as “the wine from Barolo”, served at important diplomatic and royal functions. The Marchesi had no children and following the death of the couple, the Marchesi di Barolo dynasty was left without an heir. Per the wishes of Marchesa Giulia, a great philanthropist, the family assets were donated to charity and a non-profit foundation was created in their name, “Opera Pia Barolo”, helping the needy of nearby Torino. The sales of wine from their Barolo vineyards continue to fund the charity, which still exists today. In 1929, local winemaker, Pietro Abbona purchased the cellars formerly owned by the Marchesi and eventually acquired all their vineyard holdings as well. Today, Marchesi di Barolo remains a family business. Since 2006, the estate has been under the direction of Pietro’s great-grandson and fifth-generation winemaker, Ernesto Abbona and his wife Anna, (with their children Valentina and Davide) who have inherited a longstanding winemaking tradition and a love of the vineyards and its wines.

Marchetti Sergio owner of the estate of Fossacolle, belongs to an old patriarchal family of the 18th century. This family’s descendants have ever been living and farming on the land of a large and noble lineage. At the beginning of the eighties, the owner of this land, sold the territories where the Marchettis worked and decided to donate them the "Podere Fossacolle". In 1984, the first Sangiovese-vineyards were planted, marking the start of the viniculture activity. Some years later, the vineyards were registered as Brunello di Montalcino, allowing the winery to develop the enological aspects with investiments related to the realization of the cellar for the vinification and aging in wood barrels. On January 1st, 2002, the winery issued their first Brunello di Montalcino, vintage 1997. To celebrate the best vintages the family decide to release a Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, they will issue this wine only in the best vintage with special numbered labels. All the vinification process of this great wine, even the malolactic fermentation, take place in small concrete vats.
The best grapes coming from our oldest vineyard of 1984, are picked and selected by hand in small cases and after a soft press vinificated with a cold pre-fermentation and a long maceration with frequent pumping over and delestage, looking for the best extraction for an harmonious texture and a great complexity. After the malolactic fermentation the wine starts the ageing phase in wood, for 24 months in french wood specially selected.
Another year in concrete vats complete the ageing process and without any filtration but just with a static settling the wine is bottled and starts a long bottle ageing. We offer the only one bottle available at our cellar from the 2016. Rarity. Pm us.

Tenuta Cucco is a historic winery in Serralunga d’Alba that began as a winery in the 1960s. In the local dialect “cucco” indicates the hilltop location of the oldest part of the vineyard, inside the Cru Cerrati.
The Tenuta Cucco vineyards stand on the most ancient portion of the very ancient territory of Barolo, implying another important privilege: an ideal altitude (about 420 masl) which ensures the best temperature for the ripening of the grapes, bringing out the tannins of Nebbiolo, while ensuring the best temperature range, which is fundamental for the ripening of the grapes. Serralunga d’Alba is in fact one of the highest municipalities among the eleven towns of the Barolo appellation. The vineyards of Tenuta Cucco cover 13 hectares and include a number of varieties, dominated by Nebbiolo, along with Dolcetto, Chardonnay and Barbera.
The overall production varies from year to year, with approximately 70,000 bottles of which the largest quota is that of Barolo, from Menzione Cerrati and Bricco Voghera, and from Vigna Cucco. The vineyards range in age from 15 to over 50 years: the choice of low quantitative yield leads to very high product quality.
Tenuta Cucco Barolo Serralunga is a Barolo with a bouquet coming from the vine variety and the soil base. It has hints of withered rose, undergrowth, prunes, liquorice and spices. Fresh wine with a tart component and tannins sustaining a good structure. The aromas are elegant, with a good intensity. The fruit is sweet, with more evolved sensations echoing to***co and dried herbs.
A wine of marked youthful exuberance, left
 to age for 24 months in traditional 25-hectolitre barrels where the maturing process brings out its elegance. It then sits in bottles for 6-12 months before being sold. Its full-bodied flavour makes it ideal for red meats and feathered game, particularly when braised. 24 only bottles available. Great Value Deal at 50% discount. Pm us.

A millenary tradition that has made this winery a local reference point, with Count Douglas Attems as key protagonist: to him goes the merit of having founded, in 1964, the Consorzio dei Vini del Collio (Collio Wine Consortium). It was – in chronological terms – the third to have been founded in Italy and the first in the Friuli region. Since the year 2000 Attems is property of the Frescobaldi family who continue to pursue its tradition with great respect of its distinctive characteristics. Attems Pinot Grigio Ramato continues a tradition of the Republic of Venice, since “ramato” was the term that referred to Pinot Grigio. A special vinification practice led to the use of this term: the must remains in contact with the skins for about 10 hours and this practice gives the wine a beautiful rosè hue. Our Ramato boasts a rich, complex bouquet of crisp fruity impressions including white peach, and cantaloupe followed by blackberry and bitter cherry with an intriguing hint of wild flowers. On the palate the wine is enveloping with a pleasant acidity and long mineral finish of red fruits.
A perfect partner to sweeter cured meats and prosciutto, as well as pasta with vegetables sauces or shell-fish. I’m offering the last two bottles left of 1.5 Lt at 50% discount - pm us.
