You may have heard the words to this traditional song, but have you heard of the “kinetic chain”? It’s a similar idea!
The kinetic chain principle is used to explain how your body parts work together when you move, like a chain. If it works well, it puts less pressure on your joints and helps you move more easily. But when you have trouble moving because of weak muscles or inflexibility, it can lead to compensation patterns. These patterns make it harder for your body to move the right way, and can hurt your joints over time, as well as make you more likely to get injured. 🤕 😫
When treating a client for a specific pain or injury, it is important to assess the whole body, looking for imbalances from head to toe, right to left, and compensations in their movement. 👀
Musculoskeletal adjustment (MA) can then be used to restore balance, increase flexibility, and reduce inflammation at the root of the problem. By treating the pain and injury in this way, it can also prevent future problems and injuries.💪

「 #霜降」是秋季的最後一個節氣,
不只是火鍋或燒肉店的那盤唷😆
雖然24節氣是古代人根據中國黃河流域的氣候整理出的經驗,
字面上的意思不一定跟臺灣的天氣感受相似,
但仍是許多農人們在安排農作行事曆時的重要依據。
根據統計,
臺灣各氣象站氣溫開始低於中位數的日期,
大概是10月下旬至11月上旬之間,
也就是秋分之後的30~40天左右。
所以大致上來說,
霜降之後,也表示著臺灣要開始進入比較涼冷的半年囉!
霜降後是賞楓葉、遊芒花、品白柚的好時機,
不過天氣轉涼,日夜溫差漸大,
要適時增減衣物避免著涼,
南來北往的朋友也要留意南北溫差變化。
中南部也進入了枯水期,請大家要惜水、節水哦~

Good day! As you may already know, at Flourish Healing, I provide therapeutic massages combined with TCM accu-pressure and physical therapy techniques. But today I want to share with you a more in-depth look at my holistic, whole body approach and treatment style. So, what does that mean?
In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), we think of the body as a system of interconnected parts. So, let’s say you are recovering from a sprained ankle. In “western” medicine, we tend to focus entirely on the ankle and regaining its function. You probably aren’t thinking about how other parts of your body may have led to this injury. For example, maybe your foot has experienced a bone structure change, like from wearing high heels for many years, or maybe inadequate recovery from exercise has led to tired calf muscles and instability. These things might seem subtle and insignificant to you, but the “butterfly effect” in your body can have an impact. Anything like that could be the underlying cause of you “stepping wrong” and turning your ankle. Maybe it wasn’t a one-off random incident. Do you often sprain your ankle and shrug it off as being “clumsy”? Often there is a subtle imbalance in our bodies, which we might not notice, but it can lead to injuries or chronic pain. After we help you to regain that ankle function, it is also important to determine and treat the root cause to prevent future injuries.
So, when clients visit with pain or injury, we need to investigate the bone and soft tissue together. How do we do that? Do we use x-rays, ultrasounds, or MRI scans? No, my method is to feel the muscles, bones, and ligaments by hand, through touch and manipulation. To test how you move, feel the tension, and to carefully compare the structure of the injured part to the healthier side. I might ask you to practice certain movements or even try walking up the stairs so we can really check the function deeply. So, maybe we find that the main cause of the sprained ankle was actually a more complicated imbalance in the hips, in turn shortening one leg a small amount that you never noticed. That led to the “clumsiness” that caused the sprained ankle. We all have asymmetries and imbalances, so this is very normal!
Because we tend to overcompensate for these things, we develop chronic bad habits and postures that can become locked into muscle memory, so it takes time and patience to reset. My approach is to avoid fast, aggressive treatments, like some styles of chiropractic adjustments, because not only is it safer, but the results tend to “stick” better and have a long lasting effect. So, it may take time and several sessions to help you fully recover from your problem. But it will be worth it to achieve relief and lasting improvement of the root cause and to avoid future injuries. Which saves time, money, and pain in the long run!

什麼是筋骨整體調理 (Musculoskeletal Adjustment, MA)呢? 筋骨整體調理, 是綜合中醫經絡理論, 還有現代醫學人體解剖學的徒手推拿整復方法. 今天想跟大家聊聊, 我使用的這種中西整合的全面性手法, 對於各種酸痛不適, 能有怎樣更好的幫助呢?
就拿俗稱"翻車", 腳踝扭傷為例子好了. 在現代復健醫學中, 除了用急性期用冰敷, 熱療, 降低腳踝腫脹與減輕疼痛外; 再來會用貼紮, 拉筋, 本體感覺訓練, 維持腳踝中長期的穩定. 而傳統國術館, 師傅會巧妙地把扭到的腳踝"喬"回去, 然後貼上狗皮膏藥, 活血化瘀.
從以上的比較, 我們可以發現: 復健醫學, 擅長於腳踝扭傷後的長期養護; 而中醫骨傷科推拿, 對於急性期的腳踝疼痛緩解, 並在短時間就恢復行走功能運作上, 成效顯著. 所以, 如果能結合現代復健醫學, 和中醫骨傷科推拿的個別優勢, 共同使用. 那, 對於腳踝扭傷的人來說, 一定是恢復方面最好的福音!
筋骨整體調理服務, 就是我祈願能為大家帶來的福音. 首先, 我會在您酸痛不適的地方, 局部使用適度不暴力的摩, 撥, 搖, 抖, 拍, 推, 拿, 滾, 按, 揉這十大推拿手法, 將扭傷, 拉傷的肌肉, 加上可能有著些許錯位的骨骼, 進行鬆解整復. 再來, 我也會依照中醫十二經絡, 奇經八脈的循行路線, 配合復健醫學"解剖列車"書中講述的七條"肌筋膜經線", 使用拉伸, 旋轉, 牽引, 來調整會影響您局部不舒服的大範圍結構.
還是以腳踝扭傷為例子. 踝關節不穩定的"近因", 可能是腳的骨骼受到鞋子影響而過於緊繃, 可能是小腿肌肉使用過度影響踝關節活動. 但踝關節的不穩定, 也會被膝關節, 髖關節, 骨盆這些腿部骨骼結構, 還有左側右側的大腿肌群, 臀部肌群張力不平衡等"遠因"所影響. 使用筋骨整體調理, 鬆解整復局部的小腿, 腳部肌肉, 骨骼, 再延伸調整下半身軟, 硬組織的結構. 這樣, 腳踝扭傷, 才能有最完整的恢復, 而不會時好時壞, 演變成習慣性扭傷.
不可避免地, 要局部, 大範圍同時整復, 一開始的確會需要長一點點, 多一點點的調理時間與次數. 不過, 比起只處理局部, 過度講求療程速度, 越酸痛越有效的調理方式, 我深信: 先經由專注傾聽, 耐心詢問, 仔細觸診, 並反覆測試, 了解您酸痛的方方面面後, 再經由全面的筋骨整體調理, 才能讓困惱您已久的不舒服, 得到在時間, 金錢, 不適緩解上的最佳解決方案!
