What motivates people to steal kids?
Seven-year-old girl recruited for street begging, intercepted; suspects arrested!
Our monitors intercepted Aziza*, a 7-year-old Tanzanian girl with a disability. A trusted informant noticed the girl at a transit station and immediately called a high-value contact for assistance. Our police liaison team quickly went to the bus station, located Aziza, and intercepted her.
The young girl had traveled by bus with a recruiter from Tanzania. From the interview with both the recruiter and Aziza, it was established that the recruiter transports young children from Tanzania to the streets of Kampala to beg for money. It was further established that the recruiter has two other accomplices who receive the children for the purpose of exploiting them—by sending them on the streets to beg for money while they receive the proceeds from begging.
Aziza did not know that she was in Uganda; she was too young to understand that she was in another country. Using young minors for begging is a growing trend in Kampala—all for the purpose of labor exploitation. Following the interception, the suspected traffickers were arrested and charged with the offense of aggravated child trafficking.
Right now, donations are being matched dollar for dollar up to $750,000 to help keep 2x more people FREE like Aziza. Learn more: https://lvjus.tc/3GZaDyd

ROMME Love Justice Tanzania rescued a 6 year old girl child.
This girl child had been abducted from Ilula Mtua village in Kilolo district.
Her parents were surprised to learn that their daughter was at Magufuli Bus Terminal (MBT) in Dar.
With the assistance of district SWOs her father came to Dar and took her back home.
Surprisingly, the perpetrator was her brother aged 17 years. He was put behind bars at MBT Police Station but released after the girl's father was returning back home with her daughter. At the time of writing this note he was free at home!!
RLJT is following up this case.

Today (21 Dec 2022), ROMME has assisted 5 victims of child trafficking to go back to their respective villages to reunite with their families in Kilosa, Mwanza, Bariadi, Mkuranga and Geita.
