The Zanzibar Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Emergency Medical Services Academy (EMSA), is set to hold a Symposium on Emergency Medicine and Critical Care(SEMCC) in Zanzibar to build the capacity of first responders, Emergency and Critical Care Services to Advance access to quality healthcare services in primary healthcare facilities.
During a press briefing today, Dr. Ramadhani Chunga, a specialist in Emergency Medicine and chair of the Organizing Committee, said the aim of the symposium is to build the capacity of healthcare workers in emergency departments (EMD) and intensive care units (ICU) from Primary Health Care facilities in Unguja and Pemba.
This is to leverage Zanzibar’s rapidly expanding and upgrading its healthcare infrastructure, including hospitals, health centers, and dispensaries. Training non specialist staff will provide an interim task shifting and reinforce the Primary Health Care facilities. In Unguja 120 Nurses, 80 Doctors, 50 Community First Responders will be involved in this initiative. kwa kushirikiana na Taasisi binafsi ya Wataalam- Emergency Medical Services Academy ( EMSA) imepanga kufanya kongamano la kuwajengea uwezo wahudumu wanaotoa huduma za dharura na wagonjwa mahututi ili kusogeza upatikanaji wa huduma bora katika vituo vya afya ya Msingi nchini Tanzania.
Akitoa taarifa kwa waandishi wa habari Daktari Bingwa wa huduma za Dharura na mwenyekiti wa kamati ya maandalizi EMSA Dk. Ramadhani Chunga amesema lengo lla kongamano hilo ni kuwajengea uwezo watumishi wa afya katika idara za dharura (EMD) na wagonjwa mahututi (ICU) kutoka vituo vya Huduma ya Afya Ya Msingi kutoka Unguja na Pemba.
Amesema kongamano hilo ni sehemu ya mradi wa kusogeza upatikanaji wa huduma bora za dharura ambao unachochea juhudi za Serikali katika uwekezaji mkubwa uliofanywa kwenye Idara za Dharura na Wodi za wagonjwa Mahututi, Madawa, Wodi za Kina Mama Wajawazito na Vifaa tiba katika mahospitali na vituo vya Afya.
Amefaamisha kuwa kongamano hilo litawahusisha watendaji wa mahoteli, Madereva, Polisi wa Barabarani na watoa huduma ya Jamiii katika kutoa huduma ya kwanza (Community First Aid Responders)- kwa lengo la kukuza ubora wa utoaji wa huduma ya dharura katika jamii.
“Mafunzo haya yatawaanda madaktari na Wauguzi kufanya kazi kwa ubora na ufanisi katika vituo vyetu vya Afya ya Msingi nah ii ni dhamira njema ya Mheshimiwa Raisi Wa Zanzibar na Mwenyekiti wa Baraza la Mapinduzi ya Huduma bora za Afya” amesema Dk Chunga.
Akigusia kwa upande wa Tanzania Bara Dk Chunga amesema EMSA imepanga kuwa na kongamano jingine Kanda ya Kati litakalofanyika Dodoma katika hospitali ya kanda-Benjamini Mkapa (BMH) Septemba 24-27, 2024.
Kongamano limepangwa kufanyika kila mwaka na kujumuisha vituo vya afya vya kikanda Tanzania Bara na Zanzibar na linatarajiwa kuhusisha wahudumu wa sekta ya Afya 300 wa hospitali mbalimbali za Zanzibar litakaloanza Agosti 27 hadi 30 mwaka huu.
