Quartz is popular for countertops due to durability, low upkeep, and versatility, but faces increasing scrutiny over production methods. Due to it’s high silica content, the manufacturing and installation of quartz poses a risk of silicosis, a serious lung ailment, to workers involved in the cutting, grinding, and polishing of quartz. Check out our most recent blog post to learn more about this issue and some pros/ cons of the alternative options!
It should come as no surprise that green is a favorite color amongst a few of us here at D2E! Swipe to see the different shade of green we love!

This versatility has made blue a staple in design, capable of harmonizing with practically any color scheme. Working with a local artist, we created a ghost mural of the company logo on the building’s exterior. This technique involves painting the logo in a subtle, faded manner, adding an artistic touch to the facade while paying homage to the building’s character and history. We also added chalkboard coffee bar signs, blending an industrial feel with a playful nod the office culture.
More from our project with Mulhern + Kulp! In addition to infusing the space with some color and branding, we also sought to showcase the company’s culture and achievements. We created a gallery to display their licenses and certifications and a gallery wall in the lobby showcases photos from company events. In the basement, our focus was on designing a versatile lounge area suitable for various company activities, including meetings, lunch breaks, and employee jam sessions.
Highlighting on of our commercial projects! In 2018, Mulhern + Kulp Structural Engineering moved to Ambler Yards, a revitalized industrial site now a vibrant, LEED-certified community hub. Their building, once a BASF plant, retains industrial features such as exposed ceilings and brick, enhancing its character. However, there was an abundance of white walls the company was looking to liven up. Our aim was to cultivate a welcoming atmosphere while reinforcing the company's brand identity. Swipe to see some creative ways we did so and head over to our website to learn more about this project!
Grateful for the spotlight! 🌟 Stephanie's interview with Phoenix Voyage Magazine highlights our growing presence in the Phoenix area. Excited to share our story and connect with the local community. Stay tuned for some more highlights from the interview!

Another common element of Wright’s work is a technique called ‘compression and release.’ Wright creates a dynamic connection between spaces that reflects the ebb and flow of nature. The natural world offers moments of shelter and enclosure followed by moments of openness and exposure. Check out this video from Taliesin West that show this technique in action and check out our blog post to learn how the other works have this design element too!
This week we are exploring Frank Llyod Wright's tenants of organic architecture and comparing his work in AZ and PA. One element of design that can be seen throughout many of Wright’s work is the use of natural light. All three buildings use natural light in different ways that reflect their purpose and surrounding. Check out our blog post to learn more!
