Going to be a lovely day . Got some new Olive Trays for today. Rhododendrons are changing color all of a sudden. Peggi’s been working diligently drying out our display from yesterday’s zero percent chance of rain. It’s all back in Shadow Pilot and ready to go. 😎
Okay. Lemme tell ya… 😉🤣
Fresh new 1qt. Oval Bakers for Hamilton Farmers Market today! 😃
Flawless firing coming out the day before the start of Spongeschool and another round of Bowls with holes. 😃
Crimson and black Mugs are back! . 😊
Purty new Oval Bakers for Hamilton today. Deer have done quite the job on Peggi’s hostas… and my backdrop. 🤣
Platters, handles, Brie Bakers, and Woggidy Mugs. Spongeschool starts next Tuesday. Studio time will be at a premium till we get our weekends back at the end of October. It was in the 40’s last night. Feeling like Fall. 😃
Looks like the rain will hold off for today. Doubt we’ll see any sunshine though. Peeking in the last glaze firing. Too hot to unload, but a couple student gems are gonna go over big time. 😃
A little rain won’t spoil the party. It should be over by the time we get to Hamilton. 😊
Bowl with holes going to Joisey. Lovely Round Baker headed to Adirondacks. Casseroles get handles. Lots of glazing going on. Glaze kiln firing. Good time to cut the grass. 😊
Trimming Casseroles and finding k***s. Two pairs of Scarlet Tanagers are catching bugs by the front porch. Second time in my life seeing these birds, and four of them at that. Pretty cool 😎
Mo’ Mugs. Momma deer meeting me for lunch. She had crabapples. I had roast beast. Big Round Trays get tootsie roll handles and are done. Peggi Sue making blue. Pink cobalt carbonate in the scale. 😊
Floating Blue Mugs for . De-fuzzed the yard after market yesterday. Mountain ash trees are so heavy with berries, they’re hanging upside down. Peggi’s plants are loving this weather. 😊
Peggi Sue says we got 3 1/2” in the rain gauge yesterday. Her flowers are happy. Gonna be gorgeous all weekend. New Bowls for Hamilton today. Yard is getting pretty fuzzy. Know what I’m doing if we ever dry out. 😃
Ain’t nothing drying today, though I managed to get these large Pie Plates trimmed and finished. Power is blinking off and on, which makes me want to reassemble my old kick wheel. Rain and more rain. Sweetie Cat waiting on me for lunch. Momma deer showed up for some midday snacking. 😃

Shadow Pilot is back and so is our regular display. Lots of new work from the kilns this week, including a fresh batch of lilac Mugs. Man, did it rain overnight. Should be a beautiful morning in Hamilton. See y’all soon. 😊

Mo’ Mugs. Two tater chip thick Bowls. Oval-ating some small Cracker Trays. 😊
Sandwich Plates are out of the kiln. All twelve turned out great. 12 to get 8… Still a thing… The couple that ordered them said they wanted that “galaxy glaze”. Maybe have to call it that from now on. We’ve been calling it New Green for thirty years. 😂
Cuppa-palooza today. We’re bringing a collection of unique, one of a kind (ish), tests, experiments and demo cups. This weekend only, Buy One, Get One For Half Price. 😃
Shadow Pilot is in the shop and we get to use Peggi’s cute little blue Honda for markets this weekend. We’re bringing a collection of unique, one of a kind experiments and demo cups. This weekend only, Buy One, Get One For Half Price. 😃
New Bowls with holes for today. Beautiful firing coming out this morning. Shadow Pilot is going in next week to get the deer dent repaired. Treated her to a new set of shiny hubcaps so she’ll be super pretty when she’s done. All she said was, “ Do these wheels make me look phat?…” 😉🤣
New Oval Bakers for Hamilton! 😊
Little handles. 😃
Feet feets and handles, and done. Perfect upstate day today. 75° with fluffy clouds. Doors are open, kiln is firing, and I’m not roasting my brain… 😊
Today’s ovals and today’s critters. A doe tried to walk into the studio this morning. Didn’t have a camera handy. She’s been munching on crabapples for a couple days. Nice size garter snake in my path. This one thinks it’s a cobra. One day I’ll catch him popping up to look at me. 😊
Top o’ the kiln looks nice. Too hot to unload. There’s a batch of Lilac Mugs down below, but have at least one for today. 😃

Our Story
Our work is safe for the oven, dishwasher, and microwave. For years of enjoyment, please warm the pot up with the oven before cooking, and never place it in a hot oven after being in the refrigerator.
Chris Pettingill and Peggi Sue Peters met in 1984 while attending Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland and went on to receive their B.F.A. degrees at the New York State School of Ceramics at Alfred University. Chris continued on to study at the University of The Arts, in Philadelphia, and received his M.F.A. in ceramic art from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana in 1992. They now live and work along the banks of the Susquehanna River in Afton, NY.
In 1995 they started their studio in an old church in Delta, PA and set about to make functional pots on the potter’s wheel. “Since my background is in ceramic sculpture, we baked and cooked and ate and drank from everything we made for about a year before even trying to sell a single pot because we wanted to make sure they worked properly and were sturdy enough for everyday use.” They settled on white stoneware and porcelain clays for their work, and are glaze fired to Cone 10 (2350 degrees F.) in electric kilns with glaze made from nontoxic materials. “We formulate and make all of our own glazes from raw materials in our studio, to be sure that they are safe not only for people to use, but for us to work with as well.”
Chris and Peggi Sue have conducted workshops at the University of South Carolina, Augusta State University, Goucher College, and for various local elementary and high schools. Their work is in use and in private collections across the United States and around the world.
