***UPDATE***

Saddle River Road has been reopened.

TRAFFIC ALERT – Motorists should be aware there will be road closures this evening in Monsey on Saddle River Road from Route 59 to the NJ border. Those who planned on travelling to this vicinity are strongly urged to find alternate routes and to remain clear of this area as they are able. When the traffic flow returns to normal, we will update this post.

Route 306 between Viola Road and Edison Ct in Monsey is down to one lane for both directions due to utility work in the area. RPD officers are on site assisting with traffic. Expect delays in the area.

Supervisor Specht is sending a reminder to all Town of Ramapo residents. Our clocks spring ahead this weekend. The alarm clock goes off an hour earlier but we will have an hour more of light! Have a great weekend!

This morning, a truck crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Red Schoolhouse Rd. and Summit Rd. in the Village of Chestnut Ridge, causing the pole to land onto the truck and the live wires to spark. The roadway is closed. S. Spring Valley FD and Monsey FD responded. Orange & Rockland Utilities are at the scene. Red Schoolhouse Rd. will be closed from De Salvo Ct. to Williams Road. Vehicle's exiting the Garden State Parkway extension, onto Red Schoolhouse Rd., will be detoured left toward New Jersey.

In anticipation of the new school year the Ramapo Police Department would like to remind both motorists and pedestrians to be extra careful.

Drivers should:
-Slow down and be prepared to stop for school buses with flashing red lights.
-Be aware of posted speed limits, especially near schools.
-Expect increased pedestrian traffic in the mornings and afternoons.
-Be alert for pedestrians that may be crossing streets mid block.
-If driving children to school, be aware of and follow, the schools pick up and drop off protocols.

Pedestrians:
-Use sidewalks whenever available.
-Look both ways before crossing and use crosswalks when present.
-Avoid stepping out from behind parked cars, oncoming traffic may not see you.
-Pay attention to oncoming traffic, do not assume motorists see you. East Ramapo Central School District Suffern Central SD

** TRAVEL ALERT **

On Wednesday, 8/24 the Rockland County Highway Department will be milling Scotland Hill Rd from Old Nyack Turnpike to the north end of the Scotland Hill Bridge in the Town of Ramapo.

Weather permitting, drivers are advised to take alternate routes and to expect delays beginning at 7:30 am.

Update at 4:40 pm- The Roadway has been re-opened. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area due to metal plates that have been installed on the roadway.

Route 306 (Main St) between Maple Ave and Maple Leaf Rd will be closed due to construction until approximately 5:00 pm. Detours have been posted. Please plan an alternate route.
