Who doesn't love a good trip to the Humane Society?!
A group of our individuals from our Adult Day Center decided to volunteer at our local Humane Society. They love to give back to our community in anyway they can!
Our individuals are having a blast this summer! They have been back to the Splash Pad to keep cool from the heat and to have more fun in the sun. They ended their day having a relaxing picnic.
Our individuals at Adult Day are learning and having fun at the same time! They have an "Armchair Travel of The Month Location" and this month they learned about New Orleans, the City of Jazz! They first watched a video on Mardi Gras and then colored + made Mardi Gras Masks.
Our Kids' Corner Child Development Center started back to school this week! We are so excited to see new and returning faces to the 2024/2025 school year!
Did you know about our Residential Program? This program services people in many different settings: apartments, semi-independent settings, group homes, family homes and some people even own their own home! Our Direct Support Professionals help people living in our communities have greater independence and a better chance of making a life for themselves. The services we provide to people include personal support to allow them to learn how to care for themselves and their homes, day services to allow people to interact with community members in all neighborhoods, and Care Management to assist with arranging needed services and supports.
We recently had a few of our individuals in our Residential Program enjoy time out at the new TCBY in town. They truly enjoyed getting out in our community as well as enjoying a sweet treat!
Yesterday was our Kids’ Corner Child Development Center’s first Back to School Community Resource Fair! Thank you to everyone who attended and a special thanks to our vendors: Albany Area YMCA, Department of Public Health, Amerigroup, The Wetherald Behavioral Academy & Consulting and our very own Family Support Program! A special thanks to Kournty Korner BBQ for serving fantastic food.
July was a busy, busy month for our individuals! They had fun in the sun at the Sylvester Splash pad, worked out at the YMCA and they finally got to meet the baby chicks that they will be raising! They always enjoy doing a fun activity and getting out in our community. If you see us out and about, please say hi!
Today is the day!

It is with mixed emotions that I share with you the news that I will be leaving The Arc of Southwest Georgia as Executive Director. I have been offered and am accepting a position with The Frazer Center in Atlanta.
I truly cherish The Arc of SWGA and the entire community that supports us. I did not make this decision lightly, and I am very proud of what has been accomplished at The Arc during my nearly ten years as Deputy and Executive Director. This team has faced insurmountable challenges and can handle anything. I will be here to assist with the transition and will facilitate any necessary changes for the new Director.
I am most proud of the quality of the programs that we offer at The Arc. Our innovative approach to inclusion and community integration is unmatched in Southwest Georgia. In short, The Arc is in excellent shape and prepared for a dynamic new leader to take it to the next level.
The Board of Directors, this team and the community have played an important part in this journey and I want to thank you for your support. I have loved my time at The Arc and am so proud to have led this organization and its amazing staff for the last decade.
Sincerely,
DeAnna Julian
