They will receive military honors, and there will be guest appearances from local politicians and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. The public is invited to attend.
“It will be a way to honor, not just these 34, but the other veterans who have either given their lives or have given their time,” Arntson said.

Today is National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day, designated by Congress in 2008 “to pay tribute to funeral directors and morticians who, day in and day out, assist our nation’s families in their times of sadness and grief and help families mourn a death and celebrate a life.”

The Mourner’s Kaddish is a core part of every traditional Jewish prayer service that, according to religious law, must be recited daily after the death of a loved one for a year. It praises God and calls for abundant peace to rain down on us. Kaddish only “counts” if recited with a minyan, or a quorum of 10 – which is often impossible to find. Now, there are many virtual minyans.
“It is hard to overstate the power of saying Kaddish with other people,” writes Anita Diamant in "Saying Kaddish." “The minyan...turns the prayer into a communalizing force, keeping the mourner among the living—both literally and metaphorically. The power of Kaddish comes, in large measure, from the consolations of being in a group that recognizes and embraces the bereaved.”
The Virtues of a Virtual Minyan While saying Kaddish for both my parents, I spent nearly two years in various Zoom services—and found them, in some ways, better than the original
