Matthew 20:20-28

Gospel of the Day (Matthew 9,32-38)

A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus,
and when the demon was driven out the mute person spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel."
But the Pharisees said, "He drives out demons by the prince of demons."
Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness.
At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest."

Gospel of the Day (Mark 6,1-6)

Jesus departed from there and came to his native place, accompanied by his disciples.
When the sabbath came he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished. They said, "Where did this man get all this? What kind of wisdom has been given him? What mighty deeds are wrought by his hands!
Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him.
Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house."
So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there, apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them.
He was amazed at their lack of faith.

Gospel of the Day - Matthew 9:9-13

As Jesus passed by, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed Him.

While He was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and His disciples.

The Pharisees saw this and said to His disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

He heard this and said, "Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."

Archbishop Wester and an interfaith group of leaders are hosting an Interfaith Commemoration of the Trinity Test to pray, reflect and discuss the impact of the Trinity Test on New Mexico and beyond.

Program to include an interfaith prayer service for peace, speakers including Archbishop Wester and local and special national guests on topics including the impacts of nuclear testing in New Mexico, youth engagement in concern for the environment, and the role of hope and faith as we face growing nuclear threats. A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.” 28 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”
