Cancer patients across Central Louisiana now have access to five proven oncologists in one location without having to travel far from home.
CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic is excited to add the dynamic duo of experienced, distinguished physicians: Bassam Abi-Rached, M.D. and Howard G. Wold, M.D., F.A.C.P. The majority of their current care team are also joining the CHRISTUS team.
“By adding these two fantastic providers to our already incredible teams, we are working to meet the needs of our patients directly by implementing a team approach to patient care. This means patients will not only have one oncologist weighing in on the best treatment plans for their journey, but many,” said Monte Wilson, CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini System President and Chief Executive Officer.
As part of CHRISTUS’ aggressive growth strategy to bring enhanced access to the region, the hospital has expanded services and locations, doubling its footprint. The Cancer Center now includes new office space, an infusion center and a family of professionals with a robust care team including nurse practitioners, cancer navigators, a radiation oncologist and four oncologists.

Today marks another milestone in the story of the Life Center.
The Life Center came into existence August 1, 2001. It was the culmination of a desire to provide exceptional and dedicated care for cancer patients in our area. It was through the combined efforts of many that we were able to put together our team. Principle in this process and development of our project was Dr. Christine Ince. Dr. Ince had moved from Houston to practice oncology & hematology not long before she was approached with the concept of our project. It took a great deal of faith to say “yes” to such a life changing decision. We would be striking out on our own without any guarantee of financial success. Indeed, Dr. Ince was asked and agreed to forgo a salary for six months as we got underway. Fortunately, she did say yes and we “were off.”
One of the core tenants of the Life Center was that we were here to serve our patients and God. We had two opening ceremonies. One was a dedication ceremony that featured blessings by both Dr. Ince’s and my pastors along with much music. That event set the tone for our approach to our patient care, staff relations and the business model for the future. There continues to be many prayers lifting up the Life Center and our patients and staff. Dr. Ince has been one of those “prayer warriors.” Clearly God has blessed the Life Center and its staff.
As Dr. Ince has said we’ve had our share up “ups and downs” but through it all she has been faithful to the Life Center and our community. She has continuously reached out to encourage habits for healthy living. She has blessed our arts community through her playing and support of various performing groups. She has been dedicated to her patients and pursued all therapies available for them.
Dr. Ince has decided to “retire” and focus on her family. She recently became a “Grandma” for the first time. She said “it was the highlight of my life.” She will be helping to care for her mother as well as keeping her husband, Walter, under close supervision. She has hinted at being available to do some “fill in” work at the Life Center from time to time.
It has been my distinct honor and pleasure to work side by side with Christine for these past nearly TWENTY years. As she remarked, “it doesn’t seem that long.” She has been an outstanding colleague and partner. Her Christian convictions and outlook have been evident to all and have had an enormous effect on the Life Center.
It is an immense understatement to say she will be missed. We all wish her and Walter the best and many blessings, including more grandchildren.
God Bless you both!!
Howard Wold
