We’re not just celebrating our roots, but also the traditions that bring us closer to the water! 🌊🎣 Whether it’s the thrill of casting a line or paddling through a calm day, fishing and boating connect us to our heritage and to nature. We’re excited to continue working with Tampa Bay Kayak Anglers to share these traditions with the Hispanic community, encouraging more people to enjoy and appreciate time on the water. Join us in supporting efforts to increase participation and inclusivity in outdoor activities for everyone. 🙌❤️

Smallmouth bass are hands down one of my favorite species to chase on the water! Their fight & aggression make every catch unforgettable. 🎣 Here are my two go-to techniques for reeling them in:

Trolling 🚤

- Cover Water: Troll crankbaits along rocky reefs and mid-lake humps to locate those scattered fish.
- Speed is Key: Keep your speed steady at 2-2.5 mph to maximize your chances of hooking up.
- Depth Control: Choose crankbaits that match the depth of the fish. The wobbling or erratic action mimics an injured baitfish, making it irresistible to smallmouths.

Ned Rigging 🎯

- Finesse Tactics: When the bite slows down, switch to a Ned rig to finesse fish out of the rocks.
- Target Rocky Spots: Focus on rocky shorelines and reefs—prime territory for smallmouth bass.
- Slow and Steady Wins: Cast your Ned rig, let it sink to the bottom, and then use gentle "pop pop pop" twitches. Pause and let the bait settle; this subtle, lifelike movement often triggers strikes.

What’s your secret to landing big smallmouths?
