IWPA executive director Ashley Amidon presented today on the Regulatory Affairs panel at the United States Fashion Industry Association Washington Trade Symposium. She will be doing a longer webinar on Phase VII for the USFIA on August 22nd, thanks to the grant from USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.

IWPA Executive Director Ashley Amidon was hard at work this past weekend at the close of the CITES plants committee. It was a packed week, and IWPA looks forward to working closely with the CITES & Lumber Committee on the outcomes and in preparation for the Standing committee in early 2025.
Special thanks to new IWPA member Olam Agri for meeting with IWPA Executive Director Ashley Amidon, CAE while she was in Geneva for the CITES Plants Committee meeting. It was a wonderful last member meeting in Geneva, with great food and conversation. IWPA staff loves to meet with members when we travel, so if you’re interested in meeting with us, let us know!
IWPA Executive Director Ashley Amidon has been working hard all week representing IWPA at the CITES Plants committee meeting. Today and tomorrow, the Plants & Animals committee will be meeting jointly. IWPA staff was in the hearing room yesterday as the House Appropriations Committee passed its FY2025 Agriculture Appropriations bill. We are grateful that the bill includes language instructing federal agencies to work together to address port entry delays affecting American companies that import wood products.
IWPA Executive Director Ashley Amidon had a wonderful dinner with IWPA member Precious Woods in Geneva this evening to talk CITES, supply chains, and everything in between. IWPA staff is always happy to visit with members whenever we travel!

USDA-APHIS Announces Lacey Phase VII: The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS) announced today the implementation of Phase VII of the Lacey Act declaration requirement, effectively requiring declarations for all remaining plant product Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes that are not 100-percent composite materials.
