Upper Macungie Township Station 56
Upper Macungie Township Station 56 is 100% volunteer, professionally trained Fire Department.
Upper Macungie Township Station 56 was established in 2008 to serve the residents of Upper Macungie Township with emergency services including fire, rescue and EMS. We respond to approximately 550-600 emergency service calls a year with a volunteer group of about 20 members.
Exciting news for Upper Macungie Township Station 56! Our new Pierce 100’ Ascendant Tower is starting production.
For training, members were joined by Stations 25 and 8 at the Emmaus Fire Training Grounds. Members rotated between three stations. At the first station, members trained on deploying and advancing the high-rise packs. They connected to the standpipe and advanced the hose line up the stairs to the landing and down the hallway. At the second station, members advanced a charged preconnected hand line up a set of stairs and down a hallway. At the last station, members practiced “throwing” ladders.

For training, members continued the call simulations from a few weeks ago. The first scenario was a man stuck on a hill with a leg injury. Members removed the patient down the hill via a stokes basket. The second scenario was an animal stuck in a storm drain. Our newer firefighters were in charge of the second scenario. After each scenario, the members review various ways to successfully complete the scenarios.
Rescue Engine 56 was dispatched as part of the first alarm assignment for a dwelling fire on Windmill Ln. Crews found no fire upon arrival.

🚨‼️ IMPORTANT ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR NATIONAL NIGHT OUT🚨‼️
Grange Road will be open for National Night Out. However, one of the park entrances may be closed. Rest assured, there are two additional entrances to the park. A temporary unpaved entrance will be open on the park's north side across from Segan's Bloomin' Haus. The second entrance to the park's south side (that entrance is paved) is Auburn Dr.
We encourage you to refer to the attached map for more details.
Members yesterday reviewed forcible entry techniques on inward and outward swinging doors. Senior members completed both evolutions in the dark. This simulates a possible zero visibility scenario.

Members continue to drill on our new rescue engine. The team focused on pulling and packing the 200’ and 400’ hand line. Practicing these actions prepares us for a swift and easy hose deployment on reported or confirmed fires.
