Webinar: Use and Care of Battery Powered Leaf Blowers – October 24th at 7pm

While battery powered leaf blowers are easy to use, there’s a lot to learn in order to maximize their efficiency, from charging and storing them properly to safe use and battery management.

During the webinar, experts from the American Green Zone Alliance will share information on the use and care of your battery powered leaf blowers and other equipment, and the ways to use leaves in your landscape to benefit your soil.

If you are in an area that ash, dust and debri are falling due to the fires, do not use a leafblower of any kind. Re-circulating the toxins is not healthy. The county does send out daily notices. But not everyone receives these warnings,
Have the gardener work on weeding and covering the exposed dirt with mulch. Bear water (to get the ash, dust and debris off the shrubs and tree leaves.). Use a debris sweeper or broom to clean off hard surfaces.
Wear a mask, or limit the time you are outside. Same for your pets.

We have had several “no burn days” during winter and yet, there are fireplaces are being used.
How can Altadenans become aware and act responsibly if we are not on the South Coast alert email or text? We have no local paper. Should it be the responsibility of the Town Council at every meeting to announce “no burn day”, or on their webpage? And how many access the webpage? Should there be news blasts that come from town council?
Maybe information should come from our libraries?
Any thoughts out there? We all want clear air, right?

Our table at Muir High School during Science Fest Earth Day event! Quite a large undertaking. I want to take Warren Skidmore for inviting CHACHA to participate and for spearheading the event (and the many volunteers who help through the day) and to Christine Lenches-Hinkel from 301 Organics who sent 2 of her workers Audio Bass and Ka Trina Gee who covered for me so I could check in on my new dog, Indigo. (all’s well on that end).
We exchanged information with Theodore Payne Foundation who was next to us and formed a connection. They will share the April 26 event with their certified landscapers/gardener that Pasadena and AGZA will be having at the Rose Bowl to demonstrate the electric/battery powered leaf blowers.
