Edward Jones - Financial Advisor: Evan Price
I am a proud South Carolinian, born and raised in Anderson. I accepted an invitation to become a limited partner with the firm in 2023.
After graduating from Clemson University in 2017, I joined Edward Jones and began my career as a financial advisor. My story with Edward Jones began much earlier than 2017. I actually grew up in the business as my dad has been a financial advisor with the firm since 1990. Seeing the impact he had and the relationships he built with his clients really resonated with me. Employment conditions plus inflation trends equals Fed interest rate decisions. This is the calculus that has been guiding market performance for the past two years.
The first variable in that equation was in full focus last week as the latest jobs report provided a fresh look at the state of the labor market. While the better-than-expected results showed that the economy remains in good health, markets will continue to do the math on what this means for upcoming Fed actions.
In our latest Weekly Market Wrap, we offer our take on the implications for markets as we advance.

The last time the Fed achieved a soft landing was in 1995 when a successful pivot to rate cuts supported the start of a multi-year rally. Today, investors are hoping to achieve a similar outcome as most central banks are eyeing the start of rate cuts in the months ahead.

Friday evening at our Edward Jones annual awards ceremony, I was presented the Ted Jones Spirit of Caring Award. Ted Jones was the son of our founder, Edward D. Jones, Sr., and responsible for shaping much of the culture and unique direction our firm chose to take in its 102 year history. Since 2010, the Ted Jones Spirit of Caring Award has been presented to one financial advisor in every region, voted on by peers, who best exemplifies Edward Jones' values, culture and spirit of giving back to the firm and the community. The physical award is a medallion embossed with the image of Ted Jones, encased in a hand crafted holder made from wood harvested from the Jones’ farm in Williamsburg, Missouri. I am truly humbled and honored to have been chosen by my fellow financial advisors to receive this prestigious award! However, without Jesus in me, there is no spirit of caring. He alone is the source!

This past week, markets digested several datapoints that indicated the U.S. labor market may be showing early signs of fatigue.
In our view, given the ongoing easing in inflation and now more signs of a cooling labor market, the Fed likely remains on track to begin a rate-cutting cycle later this year, perhaps starting around the June meeting.
We share more of our takeaways in our latest Weekly Market Wrap.

This week we heard from Zeph Smith. He is pictured here (l) beside club President Evan Price(r). In 2020 Zeph and his wife Whitney bought the old Cleo Bailey School, a 28,000 sq. ft. building in the old Toxaway Community of Anderson. Their intention is to make the 2 acre grounds a place where vital services and educational opportunities can be delivered to the families of the immediate neighborhood. Many of the residents there are of modest means but they have immeasurable spirit. The first initiative has been to make food by way of a thriving urban garden, which, in the 2023 growing season, yielded nearly 3,000 pounds of produce. This bounty doesn't just feed, it nurtures, as it supplements groceries for approximately 100 local families. The Cleo Bailey Experiment is more than a nonprofit. It's a movement, powered by local donations, tireless volunteers, and a belief in a brighter future. Reaching their lofty goals will enrich the residents of the local community with new knowledge and hope for a brighter future. Please consider joining the Cleo Bailey Experiment as this community strives to restore the schoolhouse, cultivate the garden, and nurture the community. Together, we can grow a better tomorrow.
