Cradle Beach

For week 2, our campers got Lost in Space! We had a fun-filled week. Our campers participated in space rotations including astronaut training, visiting space in the Star Lab, and creating aliens. Their earthly activities involved a lot of swimming, enjoying Sunshine Day hosted by the Buffalo Rotary, and eating Sweet Melodies ice cream.

It was a great week at Cradle Beach camp! Until next time, have a fun and safe summer to all our Session 2 campers!

Family caregivers and their loved ones are invited to join us for our monthly program, Pathways for Caregivers, on Thursday, July 18! This week we will be hosting an outdoor BBQ for both our caregivers and loved ones to enjoy. Programming takes places from 10:30 to 2:30pm. Our caregivers’ support group will begin at 10:45am.

Pathways for Caregivers takes place on our beautiful campus every third Thursday of the month. We love hosting our program during the warmer months so all can enjoy our oasis in nature.

Pathways for Caregivers is an Exhale Family Caregiver Initiative. Exhale funds innovative, collaborative projects that are reimagining respite care opportunities for family caregivers of older adults.

Yesterday was truly a fantastic day at the beach! Volunteers from M&T Bank’s Summer Internship Program spent the morning participating in PlayStations with our campers.
They also helped our Pioneer Campers with serving lunch. We extend our gratitude to M&T Bank for their ongoing support for our mission here at Cradle Beach.

Last week, Session 1 of Cradle Beach Summer Camp 2024 is now in the books! Wow! What an amazing start to the summer. Last week’s theme was ‘Magic Camp’ and our campers had an abracadabra time! Congratulations to Onondaga Cabin on winning our Tri-Wizard Tournament. Campers had a magical time participating in fun activities, such as making their own wands. Our traditional Sunshine Day took place middle of the week. A HUGE thank you to our friends at Personal Touch. Campers enjoyed time in the bounce house, seeing the animals in the petting zoo, and eating delicious fruit and cotton candy.🪁⛺️

We thank all our counselors for their hard work in successfully kicking-off the season! We wish our session 1 campers a safe and fun rest of the summer. See you next time!💚💙🧡

Another day of precamp has come to a close... Today our staff learned about fire safety and how to use a fire extinguisher! They also discussed cultural consciousness, textured hair care, and learned strategies to support campers during mealtimes. The staff also met some board members who are former counselors. They provided insight and encouragement to new staff. We ended our long day with a Photo Scavenger Hunt. Check out this photo taken by one of our new Young Staff 😊

The 2024 camp season has begun. New and returning staff arrived for precamp Saturday. For the next week, they will be participating in trainings about a wide array of topics including camp policies, disabilities, mental health, behavior management, and so much more. 🏕️☀️

This week has brought a heatwave but that did not deter our Pathways for Caregivers participants! They were able to enjoy their time here while getting out of the sun. Our loved ones spent their time crafting, chatting, and playing games – including the important game of BINGO! While loved ones spent their time laughing, their caregivers were able to take time for themselves during the support group.

Local Licensed Massage Therapist, April West, also provided some chair massages for our well-deserving caregivers and it was enjoyed by all. Lisa Rood then talked to the group about essential oils and how they can be used to alleviate stress. Thanks to Mollie Vacco for providing the supplies and educational materials!!

What a time we had today! Today we hosted nearly 300 volunteers for Day of Caring through United Way of Buffalo & Erie County. We truly can’t thank the volunteers enough for taking time to help us prepare for Summer Camp. Their dedication and hard work have laid the groundwork for what promises to be an unforgettable summer for the children. With the tasks completed and the campgrounds looking better than ever, our anticipation continues to build as we wait to welcome our campers. The spirit of community and generosity shown today will undoubtedly have a lasting impact.

Each act of kindness, whether it was painting cabins, or organizing supplies, contributes to creating a safe and joyful environment for our campers. As we look forward to the start of Summer Camp, we are filled with gratitude and optimism. The energy and enthusiasm of our volunteers have inspired us all, reminding us of the power of coming together for a common cause. We can't wait to share the magic of Cradle Beach with our campers, knowing that it’s all made possible by the incredible support of our community.

Our PC leaders had an amazing weekend at Cradle Beach! They dedicated time to learning leadership skills, participated in community service, prepared for the upcoming camp season by organizing game donations and setting up the treehouse and infirmary.

Thank you to our friends at Buffalo Niagara Association of REALTORS, Inc. for spending the beautiful day on campus with us! Our partners helped us by getting our kitchen ready for summer camp, put garbage cans all over property for when our campers and counselors arrive, watered plants and planted herbs. Summer camp is quickly approaching and we appreciate all the help from our great volunteers!

It was another beautiful day at Cradle Beach. Today, we were happy to welcome back New Era Cap to campus. They helped us by folding up sleeping bags in the laundry room, planting vegetables in our garden, and cleaning our box fans. We are grateful to New Era for taking the time to come to Cradle Beach and assist us in getting ready for our camp season. Thank you again!

Summer Summer Summer Time is upon us folks! We are excited to invite you to another Pathways for Caregiver Session at Cradle Beach on Thursday June 20th, 2024.

This month session our caregiver will participate in a wellness day with various activities including relaxation time in the massage chairs. Our Loved one will engage movement games and playing bingo.

Cradle Beach is eagerly anticipating the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County Day of Caring. Our sincere appreciation to United Way for organizing the kickoff event at the Buffalo Bills stadium.

It was another wonderful day at Cradle Beach. Today, we had the pleasure of hosting Sellers Insurance on campus. They assisted us with organizing our Hygiene Kits for Summer and painting the newly renovated treehouse.

We are incredibly grateful for their team's support. We can’t do the work that we do without the help of volunteers. With only 11 days left until Pre-Camp, we are eagerly anticipating another enjoyable summer at Cradle Beach. Thank you once again for volunteering your time at Cradle Beach!

Two groups volunteered at Cradle Beach, keeping us busy! West Buffalo Charter School tackled grounds work and beach cleanup, while KeyBank Center helped with event prep and gardening at the Compass Garden. We are 16 days away from Pre- Camp! We are so excited for another fun summer are Cradle Beach. Thank you again for volunteering today at Cradle Beach!

What a wonderful day at Cradle Beach! Today we welcomed Women of Steel and M&T Bank, where they helped us plant flowers all around our campus, adding beautiful pops of color everywhere. A huge thank you to Women of Steel for honoring our mutual, dear friend Cindy Marlow by helping us get ready for camp.

We just know she's beaming from above as you continue her legacy of kindness at Cradle Beach. A big shoutout to M&T Bank for joining us and providing assistance in beautifying our gardens! Your dedication to our mission is appreciated beyond measure.
