What are the different levels of RevWood?
There are three types of RevWood which we'll explore below: Mohawk RevWood, RevWood Select, and RevWood Plus. Each option has a different level of water resistance and price point.

RevWood laminate is a special type of flooring from the Mohawk brand. It has a pressed core that's made of High Density Fiberboard (HDF). You will get the look of real wood, however the laminate top layer is what makes the flooring so durable. It is extremely scratch resistant and almost impossible to dent. RevWood is an amazing product that mixes the durability of laminate and LVT, but with the look and feel of real wood. It’s built to last with a tough wear layer and wood core. And if you’re worried about water damage, RevWood Select and RevWoodPlus are an excellent solution.
Mohawk Revwood is waterproof. Part of what makes this flooring so durable and water resistant is the Uniclic installation system it has. Each plank fits together without glue to form a floating floor.

This laminate flooring collection is resistant to dents and stains and has an AC4 wear rating.

Mohawk RevWood Plus products use a three-pronged waterproofing system that enhances the realism of the laminate while also creating added moisture protection. Mohawk RevWood Plus contains similar technology as other Mohawk RevWood lines (including their Hydroseal coating and Uniclic technology) with one added benefit that makes each plank virtually waterproof. This feature is their GenuEdge beveling technique. Let’s dive in a bit deeper to the features of RevWood Plus:

1. Hydroseal Coating
First, Mohawk’s proprietary Hydroseal coating covers each laminate plank. This coating works to repel water from the start. The barrier keeps each plank from absorbing spills and other water, allowing the laminate to retain its shape and not swell or become deformed.

2. Perfect Fit: Uniclic Technology
Mohawk’s Uniclic technology is a glueless locking system that maintains tight joints between each plank of RevWood Plus. The joints click together upon installation. These joints then trap water on the surface, keep leaks from making their way under your flooring.

3. GenuEdge

Whether it's sheet vinyl or luxury vinyl, you can be assured of a true-to-life echo of wood, stone, or tile, together with an almost unlimited number of vibrant colors and patterns. When vinyl was introduced to the US market decades ago, it was widely praised for durability, water resistance, low maintenance, and easy installation. Thanks to modern technology, it has evolved into a thicker, completely waterproof, premium product that is more durable and stylish than ever.
Luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) is a newer, more advanced version
Over the years, luxury vinyl has become one of the most sought-after flooring products. With images inspired by nature, the photographs are so clear and accurate even the flooring experts sometimes can't tell the difference between that and the real thing. We see it in every room in the house and in some homes where nothing but genuine wood or stone would be considered.
Micro beveling and deep embossing add depth, dimension, and trending textured appearances such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed. While vinyl sheets are available in 12-foot rolls, LVF has the added design option of being cut into planks to mimic hardwood boards. This is called vinyl plank flooring. When it is cut into squares, it is referred to as LVT flooring; many say the extra seams add even more to the realism, and some take it further by using grout, now an important design tool available in many colors.
LVF is also thicker. The vinyl should measure at least 8-mm and the wear layer, 20-mils. Just like the original vinyl sheets, LVF is easy to care for with regular sweeping or mopping. Installation can also be somewhat similar. LVF installation can be a floating floor with a locking mechanism where the pieces click, mat, then hover over the subfloor with no nails or glue. Sheet vinyl can be Loose Lay, but there's no locking mechanism so that the sheets can hover over the subfloor.

Luxury vinyl is also a favorite among builders, architects and designers because of the high-end look, durability, affordability and waterproof easy care.

Tile is a durable, affordable, low maintenance surface that comes in thousands of colors and patterns, shapes, and sizes, appropriate for homes, offices, restaurants, or other commercial facilities. Whether you are looking for classic white ceramics or reflective glass mosaics for a tile backsplash or stone for tile flooring, we'll help you sort it all out. Tiles may look similar, but they often have different characteristics that can impact your remodeling project. Here are some terms we want you to know.
Wall vs. floor tiles
Floor tiles are thicker and meant to withstand the weight of people walking on them. Wall tiles, while sturdy, are thinner and can't resist the weight. Floor tiles can be used on walls, and tub/shower surrounds, but wall ceramics shouldn't be used on the floor.

Porcelain
This is a type of ceramic. Porcelain is made of an utterly non-porous clay called kaolin, fired at higher temperatures, resulting in a floor that's ideal in busy, high trafficked rooms. This large-format tile is also stylish, with an almost unlimited number of colors and patterns that can make it look like anything, including wood, stone, leather, and fabric. It can also be used outside on deck, patio, and pool floors and will not crack in free-thaw conditions. Because porcelain is a through-color, chips will never be noticeable.

Ceramics
Squares and rectangles are the most common shapes, but they can be round or oval. The 4 X 4 highly designed squares come in various colors and shapes and are usually used on backsplashes, and moderately foot trafficked floors. Many people mix and match them to create their unique designs. The 4 X 6 rectangles called subway tiles now come in various colors, shapes, and sizes and are most often used on backsplashes. They can also be used indoors on low foot traffic floors, such as in bedrooms.
Other tiles Include Listellos, ornate border tiles, or Mural Tiles, individual pieces that make up one big picture. Glass tiles refract light, have depth and dimension, and stone tiles like granite, marble, and limestone. Terracottas are reddish-brown bricks, durable but porous, so they must be sealed regularly. Mosaics are the tiny, often-glass coated, pebble-like pieces used often as accents.

Laminate flooring is an excellent choice for beautiful wood and stone look flooring, but many added benefits are available in this floor covering. You might be best served by combining some of those options to create a look and functionality that works for your home. Is My Vacuum Cleaner Damaging My Carpet?

When carpet suddenly starts to fray, fuzz, pull apart or look shaggy, you might not realize that your choice in vacuum cleaners could be the culprit! The qualities that many leading vacuum brands are known for are sometimes precisely what makes them unsuitable for some types of carpet. High-end vacuum cleaners with superior suction power and robotic vacuum cleaners can cause serious issues with certain kinds of carpet. Because these vacuum types are typically not adjustable to accommodate different carpet heights, they are not recommended.

Don’t ruin your beautiful new Mohawk or Karastan carpet by using the wrong vacuum! We recommend purchasing a vacuum cleaner that is certified by the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) Seal of Approval/Green Label Vacuum Cleaner Program. But if you already have a vacuum cleaner you love, here are three things to look at in order to determine if you can use it on your Mohawk or Karastan carpet.

Mohawk Flooring
Vacuum Height
Adjustable height is the most important feature to consider. This enables the machine to be used on a wide variety of carpet constructions. If your vacuum is set too high above the carpet surface, the vacuum can’t attract the gritty soil below. If the setting is too low, the vacuum’s be**er bar or brushes can “fuzz” the carpet’s surface, causing it to look worn or frayed.

Different carpet types will require different height settings, depending on the pile height and fiber type. High pile and premium soft carpet generally require the highest height setting, while for thick loop, casual frieze, or long pile carpet, you may need to disengage the be**er bar entirely and vacuum with suction only. If you’re not sure which height setting is best for your carpet, try a test run in an inconspicuous area of your home, such as a closet.

Suction Type
While extreme suction power may offer peace of mind to homeowners who want to feel confident that their vacuums are effective at sucking up dirt and germs, it can be very damaging to your carpet and should be avoided! For high pile and premium soft carpet, be sure to avoid vacuums with concentrated or sealed suction. Not only could these types of suction damage your carpet—you also will find it difficult to move the vacuum across the carpet at all!

You can check a vacuum’s suction power by testing it out, or by looking for words such as “concentrated” or “sealed” suction. Also, look at the cubic feet per minute (CFM). CFM measures the power of the vacuum cleaner’s airflow. The higher the CFM number, the more suction power it has. Most common vacuum cleaners will fall in the 50-100 CFM range, but you can find some as low as 45 CFM or as high as 200 CFM.

Be**er Bar/Brushes
Use a vacuum with a rotating brush or be**er bar. The be**er bar or brush should just lightly touch your carpet surface; if it’s too high or too low, then make sure to adjust the height as needed. Before you start it, be sure to check the be**er bars for burs and gouges to prevent damage to the surface of the carpet.
