HTLC High School Youth
This page is dedicated to the High School youth group at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny.
Here, parents and students will be able to see what activities are coming up as well as get encouraging posts and support! The High Schoolers at Holy Trinity are dedicated to learning about the Lord and helping serve the community.
Hi everyone! I am Ellen, the new Minister for Learning here at HTLC. Christina and I had all the chats about high school ministry last week, and I am eager to meet and get to know all of you. This ministry has a rich history of being supported by adult volunteers, and I am eager support that model of leadership moving forward.
I will be in touch in various ways in the weeks to come so discuss and plan what it looks like for this group to meet in the Fall. In the meantime, what are some things you would like to learn about and do this year? Leave your comments below.
We’re in Iowa! Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes. We are loaded up in cars and headed to Ankeny. It’s good to be in Iowa!
The wait was LONG, but we are on the train and ready to go. I give the kids 10 minutes after moving before they’re all out. See you soon Iowa!
One of these things is not like the other… 😊
We aren’t letting a delay get us down! Everyone is fed and are resting or playing games.
In case you didn’t hear, we are stuck in Denver! Someone decided to cut some stuff off of our van in the night and there are zero cars in the area to trade out. After three hours on the phone we are all set to take an Amtrak train home tonight. Shoutout to our Youthworks site team for making sure we were fed and had a place to hang out.
Please send us some prayers of safety and rest as we make our way home tonight and early tomorrow!
What a last day. Our service site was amazing all week and today we ended with Sidewalk Sunday School. We treated ourselves to ice cream and then spent the evening at Lookout Mountain. It’s very easy to admire God’s creation.
After a great day of service, we had a church pick night. We walked around downtown and enjoyed some mini golf!
Last night we treated ourselves to some coffee/smoothie/blender treats before dinner and the gathering. We also got to hang out at Commons Park with the other church groups.
Today we were back at Metro Ministries helping in the warehouse and serving at a site in the community. We all got much needed showers and are headed back for dinner, later a speaker (Pastor John, who we’re working with all week), and rest!
What a great first day! We spent the service part of our day with Metro Ministries. We will be with them all week. They serve food to thousands of people across the Denver metro. It was a true blessing to serve along side them today at two of their community sites (one of which this is their first time in person due to Covid).
We made it safely to Denver, got settled in, and are stretching our legs before dinner!
And we’re off! We have about a 10 hour drive to Denver for our week of service. Send us a prayer for safe travels!
If your high schooler is going on the Denver Mission Trip, please make sure to check your email for important information!
