In the event of a stroke, time is of the essence. Do you know the early warning signs? Things like sudden numbness in one side of the body, confusion, trouble seeing, or severe headache can all indicate stroke. Use the acronym F.A.S.T. for an easy way to remember and recognize the symptoms in yourself or a loved one:

F: Facial drooping
A: Arm weakness
S: Speech difficulty
T: Time to call 911

According to recent research, approximately 75% of strokes occur in those over the age of 65. The effects can cause varying degrees of disability and challenges completing daily tasks. At Senior Helping Senior, we have a passion for meeting the needs of seniors in a way that provides both dignity and a sense of camaraderie. We believe we can do that through serving seniors in our community, which includes: Canton, Westland, Ypsilanti, Plymouth, Garden City, Dearborn, etc....

Compassion and caring are the driving forces behind Seniors Helping Seniors® services of Eastern Washtenaw and Western Wayne Counties. “We want to know the seniors in our community are being well-cared for by compassionate, caring, loving, understanding, and joyful people,” said Carmo. “By matching seniors who truly want to help with seniors who need assistance, we are confident in the care that is being provided.”

The peer-to-peer care offered by Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services allows seniors the opportunity to give back to their community. Often, long- lasting relationships are formed with the seniors for whom they care. At the same time, seniors who need a little help receive that care from someone whom they can trust and with whom they feel comfortable. Family members are able to spend quality time with their loved ones, knowing that their day-to-day needs are being met in a compassionate, caring and loving way.
