This is where peer support meets policy change within the contra costa system of care. #CupOfJoBruno
It's been determined : my Jo Bruno Birthday Shenanigans will be Sunday July 28 (my actual birthday) at the VFW. Pot Luck style. Pool tournament. And the color theme is black red and silver. Skills and mushrooms : because we're all a little dead inside, but like mushrooms, we can grow from that s**t!
Here's the Point In Time Count for Contra Costa County 2024 data.
Had a meeting today with the lead data folks for our homeless system of care and realized a big part of our Wellness Program can be omitted. Just straight, taken TF out. And, I couldn't be happier! No need to go that route, and it makes the program a lot A LOT easier to manage. That's great news!
And, just like that, I'm back to the drawing board and referring to my SPIRIT internship and research project based on bridging the gap between homeless and peer support services in contra costa. Since H3 and OCE decided not to support the building of this bridge, I'm hitting statewide again with CAMHPRO 👌🏼
Delta Peers, Antioch and The Peer Network of Contra Costa County – Constitution of Intent The data collected for the Constitution of Intent (2021) was compiled during the The Service Provider Individualized Recovery Intensive Training (S.P.I.R.I.T) internship that I (Jo Bruno) did throu…

We will need peer support specialists with a lived experience of homelessness to lead the way through this housing crisis there's a recovery process from homelessness, and it's a delicate stage of life. We must remember that as we move forward!!!
With this journey of sitting as lived experience advisor for the council on homelessness comes to a near end, I realize the last 4 years has shown me a lot about how our system of care works. The work I've done with Delta Peers for the last 7 years has always been focused on capturing the perspective of the person expericing homelessness. I can't share anymore of my story to change public policy in the position I'm in. I need to advance. But, my point of this post is that now that I'm looking at expanding the DP wellness program and focus specifically on the recovery of homelessness, I've realized it's not about the system of care at all. Not even a little bit. It's about the people. It's about the compassion shown towards those who are homeless. Ok, so in all honesty, the recovery of homelessness has been the most difficult kind of recovery. The purpose of the DP wellness program isn't even grass roots, it's deeper than that. We're talking the roots of an ancient tree that's been planted hundreds of years ago. We're talking the roots of generations of immigrants and slaves. This kind of work is beyond the system of care, and for f***s sake, I'm digging deeper now than ever before. 'bout to sprout and flourish from these roots I've dug into the soil. My next move is going to be massive.
And this is happening ... right! The answer is to arrest folks who are homeless. Got it. And Grants Pass? The same asshats who thought open drug use was a good idea. What a s**tstorm.
Supreme Court and Homelessness: What the Grants Pass v. Johnson Case Could Do The U.S. Supreme Court has decided to take up the case of City of Grants Pass, Oregon v. Gloria Johnson to determine whether if, under our Constitution, a local government can make it a crime to involuntarily live outside and […]

We have an interview tomorrow with a woman who is doing a study around the recovery of homelessness. It's time Peer Writing with A Cup of Jo Bruno let's roll!
How do you get the perspective of someone expericing homelessness? Peer support
How do you engage with someone who is recovering from homelessness? Peer support
Where does one go when they want to share their story of homelessness? Peer support
Jo Bruno do you know anyone who is a peer support specialists in contra costa county? We need facilitators and workshop coordinators. Get the word out, please. Compensation is demanded and written into the budget!
I'm extremly confused about current events and the overlap of past events becasue it doesn't make sense to the future we must see. Humans are a horrible species and I have little hope in us.
Jo, the Council on Homelessness is seeking a Youth Representative with Lived-Experience of homelessness. Please share with your network. Thanks!
rant with Delta Peers purpose! As founder, I know the importance of having advisors and supporters to start a program or non profit organization. There’s no way I can ever do this alone. I have some business partners I have given my word to, but I recently had to block one (again). There’s another who has blocked me. So maybe they’re no longer business partners? Do I not hold my word because of whatever situation unfolded? Do I forget their effort to the success of something that I will profit from and ignore what’s rightfully due to them? How do I bury the hatchet if the other party isn’t willing to even discuss the mess the hatchet caused? I mean, seriously. I want to hold my word to these folks, one of which is a main character with Peer Writing with A Cup of Jo Bruno but how do I do that when I’m the only one honoring the shared success? They’ll still get paid, but maybe it’ll just be a check sent to their current address with a letter of recognition. Nothing more. I’m exhausted by my moral standards.
The est. 2008, social media realm has gone through many worlds. Starting with weekly columns for the LMC Experience Newspaper. It was then influenced with photography and graphic design. By this point, the amount of grief I had experienced had been deep. I knew pain all too well. I had worked through so much of my shadow side. I had come to terms with my prostitution and I was ready to tell my story. I brought my hashtag to Oregon and was influenced with cultural anthropology and African Religion. From here I took a deep, deep dive into my childhood memories. I was reborn and danced in the ashes from the flames that killed me. I planted seeds in the moist soil, and grew Gregorian’s Garden. Then, was created where you’ll find my erotic fantasy series had started and I am a self-published memoirist. There’s a sprinkling of massage, peer support, and advisory but mostly, Peer Writing with A Cup of Jo Bruno is focused on capturing the lived experience perspective so Delta Peers can change policy within our system of care. As I look into 2024, I see myself facilitating workshops, mentoring peer specialists, and guiding those of us with lived experience. As I continue to step into my profession, I’ll be setting the tables with plates of Hope. Throughout all the realms I have visited, Hope is what I hold onto. Hope is what I carry with me. Hope is how I have survived. Hope is what keeps me from hurting myself, giving up on others, or from stoping me from the work I do. Now that I have gotten rid of Twitter (X) and I no longer have access to share to my IG feed, my hashtag is about to build on the foundation. I’m taking it to LinkedIn now. Follow me, please. I’m putting all that I have started with my brand into Peer Support Wellness Program. It’s a collection of lived-experience, and it is now my resume. It’s my calling card. It’s my business. It’s me, vulnerable and authentic AF! Here we go, again. Jo Bruno
I really don’t know how much more direct I need to be but damn y’all. Let’s make it clear, again! services are not free. These MFers will be paying me. Y’all will pay me. Peer Writing with A Cup of Jo Bruno death doula? Pay me. Prison wife? Pay me. You think I’m cute and want to take me out? Pay me. Want me to sit on an advisory board? Pay me. You’re my parent or an abuser and want to text me on a regular basis? Pay me. Did I tend to your needs in any way? Pay me! Thanks Jo Bruno ✌🏼
Some of the most heartbreaking but most realest thing I’ve ever learned: some of the folks I’ve loved the most are the same folks who wished ill against me. What’s rewarding, however, I never stopped loving them even though I do not like them, trust them or even respect them anymore ✌🏼
