We are proud to announce a new document is available for the community on our website. Titled "Manual for Veterans' Dependents: What every veteran's spouse should know before becoming a widow", this guide contains valuable information for veterans and their families. It includes instructions on preparing for the death of a veteran, accessing important resources, and ensuring the veteran is properly honored. Blank copies of important forms are also included to be filled out by the veteran and their family.
This book began as a project by POW ORG and has been updated by our volunteers to include all veterans. As a team of volunteers, we have done our best to update this document to present day, but it remains a large project that we will continue to update as we are able. It is possible some information may still be out of date. As such, we encourage everyone to take care when using this and consider it a jumping off point to help you get started, rather than an all-inclusive guide.
The Manual can be found on our website at: https://arcataveteranshall.wordpress.com/manual-for-veterans-dependents/
Special thanks to our Post Member John Mitchell for bringing this project to life.
Our Post is incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us today for our Memorial Day Ceremony and BBQ! We had a great time sharing food and community together in remembrance of those who've lost their lives in the service. Special thanks to Post member Mark Nelson, Greenwood Cemetery, our amazing speakers, our volunteers, and Lockhart BBQ Catering.
Thank you to all our volunteers who came out to place flags at Greenwood Cemetery today! Greenwood is looking beautiful and ready for Memorial Day. We even have a Canadian flag out there to honor our Canadian veteran! We're especially grateful to Post Member Mark Nelson for everything he's done to put together our Memorial Day ceremonies. Join us on Monday at Greenwood for our Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony and a FREE BBQ at the Arcata Veterans Hall: https://www.facebook.com/events/805357774864611?ref=newsfeed
