I rarely pick up vintage toys at estate sales, but I couldn’t resist this 60’s play makeup vanity set.

Everything is so detailed, right down to the kitschy case! I actually thought the eyeshadow and nail polish were “real”.

One of the things I love most about selling true vintage is all of the things I learn!

I really went down a rabbit hole with this knockout 60’s hat made by Lilly Daché. Here are a few facts about this amazing hat maker…

• Lilly Daché was the foremost hat designer in the United States from the 1930s to the 1960s.

• She was a French-born milliner, or hat maker who arrived in America with nothing but thirteen dollars in her pocket, and founded a veritable fashion empire!

• The name Lilly Daché became a revered and coveted brand. In an era when no respectable woman would be seen in public without a hat, Lilly Daché reigned over both the art and the business of millinery.

• Her clientele over the years included such Hollywood stars as Audrey Hepburn, Carole Lombard, Loretta Young, Sonja Henie and Marlene Dietrich.

This particular chapeau is from her 1950’s Daschettes line & features intricate braided details, a whimsical bow back & glam hat pin.
