We spoke with a friend who had to submit a new application because their original passport expired. No problem there, but the forms said one thing and the person at the Post Office said something different. Customer service is an opportunity to really wow those who care about your product or service. Make it count...
Exercising patience and a cool head during business interactions allows you to present the best solution for the customer or client. When you realize an interaction is reaching a certain point, assess the situation and aim to resolve it by creating a win/win for both parties.
We all have bad days. Even on those days, make sure to demonstrate respect to your customers. Move through the day with the expectation they will show respect in return, even on their bad days.
Before you initiate your expansion plan, be mindful to have a plan for how you will properly service your expanded customer base. Customers who frequent your business will expect the same level of service when you expand.
When an issue arises that is a roadblock to providing excellent service, it must be addressed immediately. Be intentional to ensure the issue is resolved. Also, make sure to employ safeguards so the issue does not happen in the future.
A great way to fundamentally shift your team's perspective is to include them in the development of your customer service strategy. Explain, in detail, the excellence you expect and the steps needed to get there. This ensures each team member knows your business is centered on excellent customer service and they will act accordingly.
Mistakes are normal. When a mistake happens, it is in the best interest of your business to make it right. Even if you don't feel the customer is right, if it is the right thing to do, fix the mistake. You will build a trust that goes farther than any one interaction.
When you overthink everything, you place everything as a top priority. Instead, make a business priority list and give each item on the list a number ranking. Make sure number one gets done first everyday. This will ensure you are making progress, improving your business and serving your customers in an excellent way.
Running a business is hard work that requires dedication, consistency and focus. It is important you take time to decompress. You need space to generate new ideas, set exciting/scary goals and to just be in the moment. When you take a moment to recharge, you are allocating time to be your best self - for you, your family and your customers. Making an investment in your well-being will show in the excellence you demonstrate to your customers.
It’s easy to get busy and forget what is important when growing your business. When a customer feels the love for the product or service you are providing, they feel connected to you and your brand. They can’t help but tell others about their experience because that connection impacted their life. Make sure your customers “feel the love” everyday.
As customers, we have all experienced an interaction with a business that completely exceeded our expectations. Well, why not use that experience to inspire how we conduct business everyday? We can use that feeling as a guide to memorable customer experiences that create the same type of memories for our customers. Providing excellent customer service is less about creating a new way of servicing and more about refining our processes to perform excellently.
